Arm for radiators: rules for fixing iron, bimetal and

Heating

If you at least once faced with the installation process of individual elements of heating systems, then you probably know how difficult it is. And here it is important not only to take into account all the features of connecting coolants and maintain a certain angle for the pipeline, but also to pay special attention to the stage of fastening the radiator. It is about him that we will talk with you in our article.

Specialized fasteners are used for more practical and reliable installation of radiators.

Fastening rules for all types of batteries

Installation rules for radiators of any structures are common and their quality depends on the quality of the main task of the device - heat transfer. As usual, heating devices and pipes for the transport of coolant (hot water) are located along the walls of the premises. As for private houses, it is recommended to locate all sources of heat near the entrance doors, window openings, balconies.

The most effective is the installation of radiators directly under the window openings, since the heat flow from them blocks the penetration of cold air from the glazing.

To achieve maximum heat transfer from the radiator, it should be installed at a certain distance:

This model is designed for fixing tubular radiators on the wall.
  • From the floor about 100-150 mm;
  • From the wall 40-50 mm;
  • To the sill not less than 90-120 mm.

Further instructions for fixing radiators vary depending on their:

  • Constructions;
  • Massiveness;
  • Dimensions (number of sections).

There are two types of fasteners:

  • Wall;
  • Floor.

Mounting of cast iron radiators

The most massive of all heating devices cast iron products require special attention when attached to the wall. On this basis, the fasteners for such batteries must be very strong in order to hold a bulky construction for a long time.

Finished products of such a plan have in the label the word "reinforced", as they are made from thick-walled metal. They can be painted in the factory, usually white. However, if you wish to purchase colored heaters, you can order the color of fixtures and radiators in the same color scheme.

Small, at first glance, hooks for cast iron products are fastened to the wall with steel anchors

Note! Choosing a bracket for a cast-iron radiator, pay attention to its length. It should correspond to the dimensions of the device, taking into account the recommended distance from the wall.

In addition to brackets for cast-iron batteries, hooks made of large-diameter bent metal rods with threads are produced. Such mounts sell complete with dowels for installation.

Hook installation is simple:

  • Initial marking is performed for attachment points. by estimated quantity;

Attention! The minimum number of fixtures for the radiator in 6-8 sections - three: two in the upper part and one supporting at the bottom. If you increase the number of sections to ten, you will need three fasteners at the top, two at the bottom. For each subsequent six sections add one mount at the top and bottom.

  • Drill holes for dowels with a drill or punch;
  • Insert the dowels into the finished holes, screw the hook into them.

In the case when the battery is mounted with a large number of sections, brackets for cast-iron radiators can not fully ensure the reliability of fastening. As an additional measure, the support of a heavy device is used with the help of special supports mounted on the floor and partially relieving wall fastenings.

As additional fasteners are used floor supports (shown in the photo)

Such stops are found in various designs:

  1. Height adjustable;
  2. Unregulated;
  3. With gripper locking radiators and fixed on the bolted connection:
    • From thick steel wire;
    • From a chain of mobile links.

    Bimetallic and aluminum batteries

    The fasteners of aluminum batteries and brackets for bimetal radiators are very similar. They are made of thinner metal, rather than cast-iron appliances, because both bimetallic and aluminum radiators are lightweight.

    Bracket for bimetallic radiator can be:

    • Direct;
    • Angular.

    Corner mount is considered to be universal due to the fact that it has a two-sided notch under the header of the heater. Such a bracket for an aluminum radiator is installed on both sides of the device.

    Lighter and smaller batteries are mounted on steel anchor hooks.

    Because of their lightness, aluminum and bimetallic batteries usually do not rest on the floor.

    Tip! An additional emphasis on the floor is resorted to only when the radiators are mounted on plasterboard false walls. In addition, in such situations, use special brackets for bimetallic radiators with double-sided mounting.

    Fasteners for any type of radiator are immersed in the wall for at least 120 mm.

    This is the only way to ensure reliable battery installation:

    • Hold, that is, the impossibility of the collapse;
    • The fixing which is not allowing parting mobility.

    Depending on the number of sections in a particular device and the material of the base for installation, it is decided how many brackets to hang a bimetallic radiator.

    Another option for floor mounting radiators

    Steel battery mount

    In principle, fastening of all types of sectional heating devices is possible for fasteners of the above described varieties.

    The bracket for steel panel-type radiators is slightly different:

    • During the manufacturing process, mounting brackets are welded on the back side of the panel battery, for which the device is further suspended on brackets fixed in the wall;
    • When marking the places for drilling under the dowels of such brackets, one needs to be extremely precise in order for the brackets to fit well on the hooks of the bracket.
    Fixing the battery using the floor mounting option - the clip consists of a steel chain and a long bolt

    It is possible to simplify the mounting of radiators with your own hands by applying special metal mounting strips with movable latches, gripping the steel panel of the battery from below and above.

    Of course, the price of quick-mount strips is much higher than standard fasteners, but working with them is quick and easy.

    Conclusion

    Of course, the use of such products as a support for radiators is optional, you can act simply - drill holes in the wall of large diameter and insert reinforcement there. But visually it will not be as smooth as in the case of specialized fasteners, which will practically not be noticeable among the coolant sections.
