Heating plen step into the future

Heating

If your home does not have a traditional stove, as well as a solid fuel, diesel, or gas boiler, then you can always use an alternative — this is heating of the PLEN or Film Radiant Electric Heater. You can find the same thing in stores called IPO or Infrared Film Heater, which does not change the essence and effect of the product.

Just for some reason it is produced with a different name, although minor modifications are possible in any group.

We will now tell you about this alternative heater and the method of its installation, showing in addition a video clip on this topic.

So, PLEN heating systems - what is it and how does it work? First of all, you should pay attention to the principle of obtaining thermal energy with this method of heating - it is almost the same as the one we have from the Sun, which heats the surface of the Earth (including water) and all the objects on it , in turn, give this energy to the surrounding air. (See also the article Electric heating convectors: features.)

Exactly the same situation is observed with the use of IPO - infrared radiation, falling on various objects in the room heats them, and they already create a microclimate in the room.

IR radiation is one very narrow part of the spectrum of electromagnetic waves and is in the range between the perceived human vision light (? = 0.74 micron) and microwave radiation (?? 1-2 mm). The most useful for the human body (in small doses) are the so-called rays of life, which are located on a segment of 5-15 microns, and this is how the heating system of PLEN works.

Heating PLEN: 1) power supply; 2) a hologram; 3) the place of soldering the electric wire and resistor at the factory; 4) heating elements - resistive; 5) foil; 6) place of fasteners

In the production of film heaters, manufacturers comply with certain technical characteristics, which always remain the same:

  • The rated voltage of the used power network is 220V;
  • Maximum possible power - 175 W / m2;
  • Rated current - 0.8 A / m2;
  • The maximum possible heating of the film is 50? C;
  • Thickness - 1 mm; protective degree - IP67;
  • Possible length - 1-5 m;
  • Possible widths are 0.35 m, 0.51 m and 0.65 m.

At the same time, the film ceiling heating system of PLEN has special parameters, which are indicated in the lower table.

Film width 0.35m Film width 0,51m Film width 0.65m

PLEN table for ceiling

Note. It should be noted a very high efficiency of infrared heating - this figure is at least 3-4 times more than the radiator circuit and 2 times more than that of warm water floors.

How to make calculations

Air circulation

To make the calculation of the heating of the FLEN, you first need to build on the winter nominal temperature of the air in your area, that is, it will occupy from 60% to 100% of the total area of the room, therefore, it is easiest to install it on the ceiling. (See also the article Biofuels for fireplaces: features.)

To determine the amount of electricity that will be consumed during the operation of infrared heating film, you need to calculate the entire area of the coating, and then multiply it by the power consumption of 1m2/ hour PLEN. Then multiply the received number of watts by the number of hours in days and days of the month - xW * xm2* 24 * 30. The resulting number of watts multiplied by the current cost of electricity and get a monthly result.

Of course, the price of electricity consumption with this method of heating may not be pleasant to you, but with proper distribution of energy resources, you will be able to lower the monthly fee by two to four times.

To do this, use automatic temperature controllers with a timer, for example, when you leave the house for a long time, you can set the heating temperature to 14-16? C or even lower for a certain time, and before your arrival the sensor automatically switches to another temperature mode and PLEN enabled to raise the room at a certain temperature.

Installation Features

Mounting principle
  • As a rule, before starting installation on the floor or ceiling, the rough surface is covered with an isolon, as required by the instructions from all manufacturers.. After that, a place is determined for the automation unit and a cable channel is installed for laying the power cables. Most manufacturers decided to supply complete fasteners with which you can fix both izolon and the film itself, but if there are none, then they are easily replaced by plastic dowels with screws.
  • After the PLEN heating system is fixed to the rough surface, you connect the wires from the modules to the main wire, which, in turn, enters the automation unit. Twist cover with tape or shrink. After assembling and connecting the entire system, start it up and check the operation of all the modules, simply applying a palm to each of them, and only then lay down the topcoat.

A warning. In no case can not use aluminum foil as a substrate for PLEN, as this may cause a short circuit!

Conclusion

When you install an infrared radiator for heating with your own hands, do not forget when calculating the total power of other current collectors. The total consumer capacity of your home should be provided for by the local Energonadzor, but you can agree to increase it.
