Mounting for radiators: selection, installation and types of

Heating

Radiator heaters are usually placed under the windows. Only sometimes the project provides for a different location. To fix the heaters used wall or floor mount for radiators radiators. At the moment there are many types of them.

The fixture for heating radiators is very various.

Selection and installation of fasteners

When choosing fixing elements, you should be guided by such moments:

  • material of which radiators are made;
  • battery sizes;
  • wall material;
  • window dimensions, their number and location features;
  • room design project.

Note! The instruction notes that the heavier the heater, the thicker the holder should be. Materials radiator and fasteners must match each other.

After evaluating the above aspects, you can correctly select the type of holders and determine the desired number of holders.

Calculation fasteners

Distances that must be maintained when installing batteries.

When installed under windows, the following distances are maintained:

  • from floors should be at least 8-12 cm;
  • to walls about 3-5 cm;
  • to windowsills not less than 6-10 cm.

About how many mounts need for a radiator.

Their number depends on the length of the heater.

  1. When the sections are small - up to 10 pieces, 2 holders are placed at the top, another one is mounted below.
  2. If the battery consists of 10-14 cells, 3 mounts are installed at the top, 2 below.
  3. Under each subsequent 4-7 sections of a cast-iron battery and 10 analogs of aluminum and tubular with their own hands, one support is added at the top and bottom.

Marking for mounting holders

A very important question is how to mark the attachment for radiators.

  1. The best option is when the heater is located exactly in the middle of the window. Based on this, find the center of the opening on the wall and draw a vertical line.
  2. Further, there are 2 options. If the wiring is lower, draw a horizontal line marking the top edge of the battery. When installing radiators with side connection, it is important to place the heating pipes. In this case, set aside the horizontal line coming from the supply (upper) pipe.
  3. Measure the gaps between the holders on the battery. Postpone them relative to the drawn lines.

Types of holders

Hooks on steel plank.

The order and rules of installation of batteries are not dependent on their type, only the type of holders changes.

Cast iron radiator supports

Mounts for cast iron radiators are the thickest and heaviest, because over the years should keep a lot of weight. These curved pins or flat hooks are made separately or attached to a steel strip of 2-3 pieces.

Products are not painted or white (standard) coating is applied on them. To order, you can choose a different color.

The most common such mount for cast iron radiators.

In the photo - steel pin holder.
  1. Cast iron pin holders.
  2. Adjustable steel supports. They make it possible to change the gap between the wall and the radiator, simultaneously trimming the battery horizontally and in height.
  3. Steel brackets.
  4. Holders grouped on a metal strip.

Note! Before purchasing, consider the size of the supports. They are made under the fastening sections with different depths. In any case, the holder must ensure the gap to the walls is not less than 30-50 mm.

In addition to the pin brackets for batteries, cast iron hooks are made. They are completed with dowels. The product is mounted as follows: a hole is drilled into which a plastic dowel is driven in. The holder is screwed into it, having a thread on one side.

Brief installation instructions brackets.

In addition to wall fixing, there is also an outdoor installation of cast iron with the help of legs. Their price depends on whether their height can be adjusted or not.

The upper arcs, which fasten the sections on the support, also differ. They are made of steel wire or have the form of a chain of movable conjugate links. In any case, the radiators are fixed to the stop using bolts and arcs.

Fasteners for bimetallic and aluminum batteries

Universal holder for bimetal and aluminum.

Fastening for aluminum radiators and bimetal similar to analogues for cast iron, but is made of thin metal.

  1. The most demanded angular universal holders for both types of devices. They are at the top and bottom are equipped with recesses for the collector. Due to this, they can be mounted both left and right.
Floor racks.
  1. Legs for bimetal and aluminum do not produce. But they produce racks that allow floor-mounted installation of batteries. First, such a support is attached to the floor, then a radiator is placed and fastened on it.

The use of floor racks is optimal when the walls cannot hold extra weight. For example, it is difficult to mount radiators to sandwich panels, glass, gypsum boards.

Support for steel appliances

Standard hardware for panel radiator.

There are two types of such devices: panel and tubular counterparts.

They need different types of fasteners.

  1. Special brackets are welded to the rear walls of the panel batteries. With their help, devices are hung on the brackets. This mount for steel radiators has a special shape, designed for brackets.

Note! When installing panel devices, you should carefully monitor the vertical placement of the brackets, because 4-6 staples should hit the hooks exactly. It is necessary that the wall was absolutely smooth and even.

  1. Since the weight of the radiator is small, it will be enough to fix it on the brackets on top. From the bottom you can put supports, they will give him a horizontal direction. They cling to the brackets with hooks and only abut the wall.
  2. For greater reliability, the mounting part for steel radiators facing the wall expands.

The bottom table shows the dimensions of the mounts described.

Bracket model Length, in centimeters Total height in centimeters (N) Distance between upper and lower hook in centimeters (A)
LK-KS / 30 thirty 18 15.5
LK-KS / 50 50 38 35.5
LK-KS / 60 60 48 45.5
LK-KS / 70 70 58 55.5

There are special strips for easy installation. These are the metal strips having plastic clamps from below and from above. With this method of fixing the bracket on the radiator is not needed. The strips are screwed to the wall, the battery is inserted into them, held by plastic hooks.

The bracket of fastening of a radiator of heating tubular resembles a product for a sectional analog.

It also consists of hooks, only of a different size, which are equipped with plastic linings.

SMB mount.
  1. Manufacturers also produce a special SMB holder with hooks for tubes.
  2. This is a steel plate with plastic clips and a support for the battery shelf below.
  3. Such fasteners can be used when the weight of a radiator filled with coolant is no more than 100 kg.
  4. Installation of the battery here is extremely simple. Install the device on a support, bring it up to the clips. Those grabbing the near tube, snap.

There is also a second model for simplified installation - the SVD holder. It consists of two nodes. The first is fixed on the wall, the second on the battery. When installing the device, they mate and are connected by a loop of steel.

Floor fixing of such batteries can occur with the help of tubular stops welded at the factory or with racks with hooks. On them, the device is hung, the rack itself for fixing the radiator is fixed to the floor.

Conclusion

There are quite a few types of mounts for heating radiators. They can be both wall and floor. Standard models are reliable, however, it is more difficult to mount them. Tools and straps for simplified installation save labor and time costs, but their cost is more.
