Pipe boiler: how to make a simple and economical unit
In most cases, solid fuel boilers have one significant disadvantage - they need to constantly load portions of coal, firewood, briquettes, etc. However, this problem can be avoided.
You can make a pyrolysis boiler from a pipe. It relates to long-burning devices and can work on all types of solid fuels, even on combustible waste.

Features of a solid propellant heat generator
First about how the fixture works.
Principle of operation
- Long burning devices work by smoldering solid fuels for 10/16 hours. In this case, the heat transfer units significantly increased.
- Fuel burns through completely. Due to this, the operating cost of the unit falls, and the volume of waste decreases.
- Such boilers have a roomy firebox with a limited burning area and controlled intake of outside air..
- Bulk portions of fuel are loaded into them once in 10/16 hours.. By limiting the flow of oxygen into the boiler, it is possible to achieve a slow smoldering of fuel at high temperatures.
- If you intend to make a boiler for a bath with your own hands out of a pipe, you can install a heat exchanger tank on the chimney that will heat the bath water.
Note! Summing up the above, it is possible to load boilers of long burning once or twice a day. The heating system will operate continuously.
Device design

- The fire tube boiler is best made of pipes having a cross section of 300 mm. Their wall thickness must be at least 3 mm. A thinner metal due to high temperatures will quickly burn out.
- The length of the pipe should be 80/100 cm. The volume of the portions of the fuel loaded depends on this parameter.
By design, the device is divided into 3 sections.
- Place to bookmark fuel. Its height may vary during fuel burn.
- Land for combustion and heat generation. There the fuel smolders.
- Area for complete combustion. In it, the ash burns out, and the flue gases are discharged.
The device limiting the burning area means the period of operation of the unit without refueling, is called the air distributor.
- This is a metal circle having a thickness of 4/6 mm and a hole in the middle. Through it with the help of a telescopic tube oxygen enters the place of combustion.
- The distributor should have a diameter slightly smaller than the cross section of the device. So he will move without obstacles.
- The height of the combustion area is controlled by the impeller itself, as well as the width of its blades. The air distributor has a height of not more than 5 cm. Otherwise, the wood will burn very quickly.
The air intake pipe can be made monolithic or telescopic.
- Its cross section should be about 6 cm. At the hole in the distributor - no more than 2 cm. Otherwise, the fuel chamber will be oversaturated with oxygen.
- Oxygen can flow into the pipe directly from the surrounding space or from the air heating chamber, at the top of the unit. So burning will be more stable and efficient.
- The flow of oxygen into the chamber can be regulated by a flap located at the top of the device.

The self-made solid fuel boiler must have a chimney from the chimney for diverting combustion products. It can be welded on the side of the boiler, at the top of its wall.
Note! The exit of the chimney must first be horizontal. The length of this segment can be 40/50 cm. Such a device will prevent the formation of excess traction.
Bottom of the boiler should be equipped with an ash pan with a door for scooping the ashes, slag and ash.
To heat the coolant for a water heating system of a building in two ways.
- Mounted remote tank through which the chimney is passed. The heated combustion products give off heat to the water of the heating system.
- The water exchanger pipe passes through the combustion chamber of the unit. In the tank, the water is heated by a coil, which is connected to the pipe.
The first method is much easier to implement. It is ideal if the boiler is made into a bath from a pipe. The second method is more efficient, however, and rather complicated in execution. It is optimal for a residential building.
Independent manufacture of the boiler
Further, how to mount the boiler from the pipe with his own hands.
What you need to cook

You will need the following.
- Steel pipe for the housing of the unit, with a diameter of 30 cm, having a wall thickness of not less than 3 mm.
- Sheet iron, 4 mm thick.
- Metal pipes: section 6 cm - for the duct, with a diameter of 10 cm - for the chimney.
- Welding device.
- Angle grinder (i.e., Bulgarian).
Note! The boiler should be mounted on a strictly horizontal and flat ground. Often for this you have to pour a concrete screed.
Work process

- First, the pipe for the body is cut to the desired length of 80/100 cm. If the height of the boiler is greater, it will be difficult to lay the fuel.
- Next, the edges of the workpiece are aligned.
- Then the bottom is welded to the pipe from sheet iron, if desired - legs made of channel bar.

- After that the air distributor is made. A circle is cut from a sheet of steel, the cross section of which is 2 cm smaller than the internal diameter of the body. A hole is drilled in the middle of the circle, with a diameter of not more than 2 cm.
- The impeller having blades made of sheet steel is welded to the bottom of the air distributor. They should be no more than 5 cm wide.
- The duct pipe should be welded to the top of the regulator, so that the distributor hole is in the middle of its section.

- The instruction warns that the duct height must be at least 100% of the height of the unit body. The top of the pipe must be equipped with a damper that will regulate the flow of air.
- At the bottom of the device you need to make a door for the ash pan. For this grinder cut a rectangle of steel sheet. Then he arches. Next, a handle and hinges are welded to it.
- At the top of the unit is welded chimney. First, the pipe should go horizontally, then it is passed through the heat exchanger of the heating system, which has the form of a tank.
- Now it remains to make the boiler lid. It should have a hole under the pipe of the air distributor. The lid must be made so that it fits tightly to the unit's firebox. Otherwise, the device will smoke. (See also the article Stainless steel chimney pipe: features.)
Conclusion
If the boiler described is done and operated correctly, it will be economical and safe. Such a device can work on any solid fuel, even flammable household waste.
