The heating system of a two-story house - common options
Two-story private houses have become the norm. After all, the cost of building a second floor is relatively small, and the practical benefits are substantial. But heating such buildings is somewhat more complicated than in the traditional one-story variant. There are several common systems, it is one-pipe, two-pipe, collector or beam heating system of a two-story house. Each option is good in its own way, but there are nuances to which attention should be paid.

Natural and forced circulation
To begin with, the fluid through the pipes can circulate in a natural way and be artificially injected, using a system of circulation pumps. Theoretically, a natural circulation device is extremely simple, but in practice, only a high-class professional will be able to mount such a system with his own hands, since it is very important to precisely follow the slopes and place the structures during installation.
The natural circulation of the coolant is ensured solely due to the elementary laws of physics. When the fluid is heated, its density changes and a stratification effect appears. Hot water is pushed up upwards by cold, and having reached a high-altitude maximum, the heat carrier naturally, due to the inclination of the pipes, begins to flow downwards, simultaneously heating the room.

Of the advantages are the following.
- Such designs are not afraid of power outages.
- If the instruction, at installation, was strictly followed, then the system will work for a long time, reliably and reliably.
- Operation here is extremely simple, plus due to the absence of electric motors, the system works silently.
But the flaws in the system with natural circulation are greater:
- As already mentioned, the installation of such a system requires knowledge and experience.
- To start such heating it will take a significant amount of energy, plus warming up and reaching the design capacity will take a long time.
- The hottest will be the upper radiators, then the temperature will gradually fall and adjustment here is almost impossible.
- There is a high probability of airing the heating system, as a result, corrosion and scale deposits on the work items.

Important: a similar principle of operation, in the past, was developed for single-storey buildings. Therefore, in two-story houses, it will work only if the total quadrature does not exceed 120m ?.
In practice, the system with forced injection of the coolant is incomparably more efficient. Circulation pumps allow you to mount structures of any complexity and heat the room, regardless of quadrature.
Types of designs
Next, we will talk about the three main types of piping. Each of them has its positive aspects. Choose the same, depending on the size of the house and the size of the budget.

Single pipe wiring
Monotube heating system in Leningrad in a two-story house is divided into 2 branches, for the first and second floors separately. Accordingly, the valves to each branch is installed separately, which allows you to block the supply of heat, if necessary.

This is one of the most simple designs that does not require fundamental knowledge during installation. Installation can be done both with the installation of a bypass branch, and without it, but in the second case, the efficiency of the system is significantly reduced.
The efficiency of single pipe wiring depends largely on the number of valves and radiator sizes. The farther from the boiler the radiator is installed, the more sections it should have.

Among the advantages are the following:
- It is possible to mount such a wiring with your own hands without even having deep knowledge in the field of heat engineering.
- In small buildings, up to 120m ?, it shows the best results. For more serious premises will require the installation of pumps of greater power.
- The price of arrangement is the lowest here, for this reason, owners of medium-sized houses often prefer it.

Of the shortcomings, the uneven distribution of heat plays a big role. It should also be noted that to ensure mobility it will be necessary to install a large number of valves.
Important: when installing any wiring option, it is recommended to install a shut-off valve or a valve to remove air pockets on each radiator.
Double tube wiring
The two-pipe or double-circuit heating system of a private two-story house is currently the most popular among owners of houses with medium and small square. It is often compared to the circulatory system.
This option provides for the supply of hot coolant from the boiler, directly to each radiator. Water drainage is carried out similarly, by separate wiring.

In these designs, the heating temperature of the radiators can be changed individually at each point. Most importantly, the temperature can be adjusted mechanically, a valve is installed on the inlet pipe, and by dosing the flow of heat carrier, the heating temperature can be changed.
The system is reliable and reliable. Perhaps the only weak point of such structures is their high material intensity. In fact, it is necessary to mount two identical systems, introductory and inverse.
As a result, the consumption of pipes increases by 2 times. Plus, to hide such a number of pipes is quite problematic.
Radiation or collector wiring
The collector heating system can be used for any houses, regardless of their area and number of floors. The essence of this method lies in the fact that the coolant is first fed to a common collector, made in the form of a pipe of larger diameter, and already from the collector beams diverge to each point in the house.

And for the introductory and reverse branches 2 separate collectors are mounted. It can be called, to some extent, an improved version of the dual-circuit system.
Each branch on the input and return line has a personal shut-off valve. Thus, it is possible to regulate not only the number and intensity of the operating points, but also perform repairs without shutting down the entire system.
Important: although the radial layout requires a significant amount of materials and fittings, but with this approach it becomes possible to install additional circulation pumps, which is important, for example, for a heated floor.

Conclusion
Each above described heating system of a private two-story house has been repeatedly tested and proved its reliability. From the point of view of practicality and simplicity, only the radial scheme can be distinguished, but it can only work with forced injection of water.
