Mixers

According to the installation system, a sink mixer with a shower is practically no different from ordinary taps, except for a watering can you have to install a separate device for fixing it (most often, this is done on the pedestal or on the wall near the toilet bowl). We will not speak in detail about the purpose of such a plumbing construction - we are more interested in its device and method of attachment - here it is embedded (in rare cases it can be embedded).

These nuances will be discussed below - we will tell about it in more detail, and for more complete information please see the video in this article.

The kit comes with a foot valve, which is equipped with a toilet sink with a hygienic shower, a shut-off valve for the aerator, there is a chain and a landing bracket for fixing an additional hygienic device, the shut-off fittings are a ceramic axle box.
Set Hansgrohe Focus E2 32127111
  • The Hansgrohe Focus E2 32127111 set is a wall-mounted faucet with a single-lever (joystick) switch, which is in working condition on the decorative cover, a hygienic shower and a holder for the watering can. Such a device for a bidet and a bathroom, as in the photo above, contains in its configuration a rod connection, a single-lever (joystick) shower mixer, an aerator, with a hose, and an open and closed part of the mixer.

Plumbing mechanisms of this type most often have a cartridge as a stop valve, but it can also be a ball lock, although the essence of the water supply does not change from this, they can be used for both bidets and baths (depending on the diameter of the watering can).

Such designs are very convenient for use, but the price of such a device is quite high, and the installation itself requires a lot of experience.

A little bit about the valves

Note. Valves for water taps can be of four types - these are crane boxes, which can have either a gate valve with a worm gear shaft, or a ceramic pair of plates that regulate the flow, a cartridge (plastic or ceramic), a steel ball with holes. But the faucet on the sink with a shower for the bathroom can be adjusted only by the last two designs - a ball and a cartridge.

Sanitary Cartridge Device

Now we will tell you how the valves work, which can be equipped with a sink faucet with a hygienic shower - this is a ball and a cartridge, and we will start with the last one. The principle of operation of the cartridge due to its configuration (three holes) and one metal plate with two holes.

When you rotate the joystick to the left to the right, you reduce or increase the coincidence of the arcuate holes on the plate and keg - hot and cold water flows through them, and when the lever is in the middle position, both holes are half closed, that is, the two streams are equally mixed.

The third hole in the barrel (the largest) serves to pass the mixed fluid into the spout, and its permeability is also regulated by the same plate. When you raise and lower the joystick, the plate shifts back and forth, therefore, the flow rate that you get at the output is regulated.

Ball valves

The principle of operation of the ball valves is very similar to the functioning of the cartridge - the same three holes, where two of them get hot and cold water, and through the third - the mixed fluid enters the spout. Only here there is no regulating plate and instead the ball itself rotates, increasing or decreasing the permeability of its holes.

So, when the joystick is rotated right-left, the side holes change their size relative to the chamber wall adjacent to them, and when the lever is raised and lowered, the throughput of the middle hole through which water comes out changes.

Note. It is difficult to say which of the two types of valves is better - a ball or a cartridge, especially if it is ceramic. But one thing is for sure - it is much easier to replace the cartridge, especially since they are always on sale, which cannot be said about the ball.

How to install it

It looks like the equipment for the sink and bidet

As you understand, we will speak about faucets with a hygienic shower for a small sink (it is also possible for a large, if space permits), which are installed in the bathrooms near the toilet. This is possible most often in the private sector, where bathrooms are usually made spacious and in such a room there is an opportunity to install almost any plumbing fixtures.

In multi-storey buildings, if the bathroom is separate, it is possible to install a hygienic shower with a thermostat, which is built into the wall and directly crashes into the cold water supply pipe (usually it is behind the toilet), but this can be done in the combined sanitary facilities where the toilet is located near the sink.

The single-lever mixer itself is very similar to the usual one, only, in addition to the spout, it has another channel where the water supply to the aerator hose is connected, as a rule, the connection is made at the bottom of the faucet, under the sink.

But these are all general concepts - the fact is that depending on the cost and, of course, on the design specified by the manufacturer, water can be supplied to the shut-off valves only after lifting the joystick lever, but can also occur after removing the aerator from the bracket, that is, automatically.

In addition, some companies equip the device with a special button that restricts the time of water supply to the watering can - by default, this is usually 6 seconds, but the timer can be set at your discretion.

When you press a button on the shower, the valves stop the flow of water to the spout

Anyway, water from the sprayer can flow only when you press the button in the form of a key on the handle of the watering can while the mixer is turned on (either the joystick knob is raised up or the stop valve is opened automatically when the watering can is removed from the bracket).

In the simplest designs, the temperature of the water supplied through the aerator is controlled by the joystick in normal mode, while in the more expensive models you can set the temperature using the thermostat in the watering can itself, that is, set the most suitable for your needs to be the default.

The principle of installation of the mixer with hygienic shower

The installation of the faucet on the sink is best done when the bowl is not yet fixed to the cabinet or cabinet - this way you have much more access to the hidden part of the mixer, where all the hoses are connected and the assembly is fixed with a pressure plate.

This, of course, is not an installation manual, but, nevertheless, free access in most cases guarantees the quality of the installation and during testing, after the completion of works, leakages are usually not detected.

In some cases, if there is such an opportunity, to install such a plumbing device, it is better to remove the bowl from the pedestal (pedestals, worktops, legs) and fix the tap there with the hot and cold water inlet hoses screwed on, well, the hose for the watering can be screwed on later fully assembled structure.

Connection Bottom view

As you can see in the top photo, fixing the tap, which is carried out by a special pressure plate with a bolt, is almost no different from fixing a conventional mixer. It’s just that this model has more than one hole from the end, as you understand, the connection to the hose of the hygienic shower.

Conclusion

You can always connect and install any of these taps (which have a tap to the watering can) with your own hands if you have a simple tool in the form of an adjustable wrench. But before installation, you should carefully read the instructions, since different models may have their own nuances.
