• Such mixers for shower cubicles consist of a brass body, which includes landing chambers, a connecting tube and nozzles for drainage and water supply, and also lugs for fasteners at the back. On mixing, most often there is a lever in the form of a joystick, and on switching modes - something like a lamb, only in a more modern form. All this is completed with decorative caps and washers, where the latter can be screwed on the case, or put on with the help of a sealant - everything depends on the model.

• In this case, shower mixers are considered for 3 modes, although the principle of operation is the same for everyone, just this model is simply disassembled. At the moment, you see how the switching cartridge was removed - for this it was necessary to remove the pressure plate with the nut, thus freeing the landing chamber.

• In the same way, you can replace the mixing cartridge - this may also be necessary and its price is several times lower than that of the crane itself.. Disassembly occurs in a similar way - the joystick is removed (for this, the screw is unscrewed from the side), then the cap and decorative washer are removed, after which the mixing chamber is unwound.
• It is noteworthy that all the cartridges differ in numbers that correspond to their diameter - these numbers are usually printed by the manufacturer on the side of such a part.. Determining its suitability is often possible in appearance - it is the integrity of the channels, but to a greater extent. This condition of the seals on the bore holes, precisely because of them, in most cases, leakage occurs, but since such a device cannot be disassembled for maintenance, it is simply replaced by a new one.

Note. All shower faucets for 2 modes, more or less can most often be repaired by replacing the cartridge. As a rule, this action removes leakage.

Replacement

Note. As you understand, the shower mixer for 3 positions, more or less, can be repaired by replacing the cartridges, but this can not always be a way out. Sometimes the only opportunity to restore the full working capacity of the crane is its complete replacement.

So, imagine that you had a leak and a shower mixer you need to change completely, therefore, for this you have to pick up a new faucet, but here it is not so easy to pick it up. As we already talked about this earlier, the distance between the axes of different models may differ - it can be 90 mm, 100 mm, 120 mm, 145 mm, 150 mm.

But this or that parameter is not an obligatory accessory of this or that model (manufacturer's brand) of the shower box - they are crashed into by the presence of this or that mechanism in the factory.

Therefore, in order to replace the device, the instruction provides for its preliminary measurement along the axes - this can be done with the help of a conventional metric tape measure from below on the centers of the cameras, as shown in the two upper photos, or on the centers of the handles on the outside.

That is, for this you can not even remove the device from the wall of the box, but measure it along the top and with this data go to the store. But, in addition to the center distance, you also need to provide the seller with information about how many modes you need.

If you need to replace the crane with your own hands, then your actions will also depend on the type of booth where you are going to perform these actions, although the principle of installation and disassembly will be the same everywhere. The difference lies mainly in the fact that in boxing the mechanism is embedded in a plastic wall, and in ordinary fences, this is a hinged panel that simulates the first option.

However, in any case, the brass body of the crane is hidden under the plastic panel, and to get to it, you will first have to unscrew the handles, domes and decorative washers and only after that you will be able to remove the panel, freeing the body from all connections and fasteners it for replacement.

Installing a new mixer will require the same operation from you, only in the reverse order - first you release the casing, install it on the mounting seat, twist the panel and then finish the assembly.

Conclusion

It doesn’t matter whether the shower faucet has 5 positions or 1 mode, they all require prophylaxis that needs to be done at least once every two years. This is especially true of unheated rooms, where the water is drained for the winter, but there are still remains in the pipes that can cause corrosion.
