Self-installation of the mixer

Mixers

Any installation of the mixer in the sink, bath or shower requires a slightly different approach, although the principle of installation remains the same. But we are talking exclusively about the installation of the invoice (not embedded).

And while on the body of the faucet there can be two points for fixing (near-wall version) or one (on the sink or on the lapel of the bath). Below we consider these features, let's talk a little about the mixers themselves, and also you will have the opportunity to use the viewing of a visual video in this article.

Mixer installation

Differences in valves

Joystick (single lever) model
  • Joystick mixers have either a ball valve or cartridge, what happens most often - such models (with cartridges) are more in demand because their cost is less and the quality is not much worse.
  • In this case, at the top, you see a model that is installed on the sink or sink in a false way. On the underside of the pedestal, it is fixed either with one nut or with a figured washer, which is pressed against the studs with locknuts.
  • Single lever model can also be used for wall mount with shower head - It is used for installation in showers and baths. Of course, the installation instructions in this case will be different, but the valves will remain the same.
Two-valve model
  • If you see a mixer with two valves, as in the photo above, it means that there are ceramic or worm crane boxes as a shut-off valve. The difference can be determined in the following way - if the valve can make only half a turn and a little more, then the bush is there with a ceramic pair.
  • But if he scrolls five to ten times, then you are dealing with a worm gear. Both one and the other type of such valves can be changed or repaired, but the variant with ceramics is more reliable (higher operational life).
  • In such cranes, instead of valves, there can also be levers that perform the same function, only in this case, the crane-boxes will necessarily have a ceramic pair. In the same way as the joysticks, valve mixers can be mounted on the sink or to the wall, that is, it depends on the configuration of the case, which corresponds to the purpose.

Note. The above information is given so that you can decide when choosing a particular model.

Sink installation

Fasten the hoses

Before you install the mixer on the sink or sink, it is necessary to fasten the hoses with which it is connected to the fittings of hot and cold water. For this purpose, it is best to use metal corrugated or metal-sludge slabs (for the latter, you need to buy separately needles for connecting to the tap and fittings for connecting to the water supply system).

In the kit, hoses are always supplied in a metal braid of the screen type, but the wire can fray, burst, and so on and in this place the rubber wall begins to bulge, which leads to a breakthrough with all its consequences.

When installing the mixer on the sink with their own hands, some while winding the hoses, tow (cabid) or fum-tape are wound on them, lubricating them with the plastering paste UNIPAK.

But it is not necessary to do this - there is always two rubber sealing rings on the needles, which seal the junction well. The most important thing is not to overtighten the needle when tightening - you can break the thread.

Mount the mixer to the sink

Before you install the mixer to the sink or sink, you need to thread the hoses screwed to it into the bowl bore — it’s best to let them through one at a time, since the two end fittings will not fit there at the same time.

After that, depending on the model, you will need to press the valve down, under the pedestal, with a nut or with a figured washer with studs, just remember to insert the gasket. This work is best done when the sink is removed - so you can turn it over at any angle.

After installing the sink or sink on the cabinet or cabinet, you will only have to fasten the hoses to the removed fittings and check for leakage.

Wall mounting

Conclusion fittings under the faucet in the bathroom

What you need to install the mixer in the shower or bath depends on the height of the finished floor, that is, when you install water pipes, you need to mark the level at which the front cover will be located (most often, this is ceramic tile).

But the final installation height of the shower mixer is measured from the pallet (add its dimensions to the floor level) and it will be 90 cm (+ -5 cm) in the most optimal variant. For the bathroom, this parameter is measured from the side cuff and is 20-30 cm, but if the faucet is one for the bathtub and the sink, then it is oriented around the sink so that it will not be poured on the bowl.

Adjusting strip for polypropylene distributing

The distance between the fixing nozzles on the crane is 150 mm, therefore, the fittings should be placed at this width when distributing pipes. To simplify the task, there is an installation plate for the mixer - the fittings are already there at the right distance and you just need to solder or screw the pipes there and fix it to the wall at the right height.

Installation of eccentrics

As a rule, the mixer is mounted after the exterior walls, and before that the fittings are closed with plugs (it is desirable that the fitting be flush with the finish or protrude no more than 2-3 mm).

First, after you remove the plugs, install eccentrics, which serve to hide errors when installing the plank and align the crane horizontally. Wrap the fum-tape on the screwed-in end and grease it with the paste UNIPAK - this combination seals the threaded connection well.

Commit sequence

After that, put on decorative washers and wind the mixer on the eccentrics, tightening the nuts at the same time, so as not to create a skew - there is no need to rewind - there are rubber sealing rings under the nuts.

After clamping these nuts with your own hands, slightly tighten them with a key, no more than 0.5-1.5 turns. Now you can turn on the water and check the joints for tightness.

Note. The best check of joints for tightness is done with toilet paper. At the slightest flow, the paper absorbs water and changes color.

Conclusion

In most cases, the installation of the faucet in the kitchen or in the bathroom is made during the repair or purchase of new furniture (kitchen sets). Anyway, but you can always do it yourself if you follow all the above instructions. Good luck!
