The optimal height of the faucet in the bathroom: what you
By and large, the height of the faucet above the bathroom from the floor has never been regulated by any guests or SNiPs, as most often, this parameter is respected taking into account the personal preferences of residents or the technical capabilities of a particular bathroom. If we talk about the most common height, it is 20-30 cm from the side of the bathroom to hot and cold water fittings, on which, in fact, the faucet is mounted.
But the fact is that situations can be different, and this parameter will change. Below we will find out what the level of editing depends on, what are the ways to do this and see the video demonstration in this article.
Bathroom faucets
Note. As we have already said, there is no standard for the height of the mixer in the bathroom from the floor - it is tied to the bathroom or to the washbasin. The most important factor when considering this parameter is the ergonomic installation in a particular situation.
Installation Methods
- Overhead models with two valves or two levers and a shower head are used for bathrooms often enough - they are beautiful and practical. Such mixers function due to valves, consisting of two crane boxes (ceramic or worm) for cold and hot water separately. If the spout is intended only for the bath, then its length does not exceed 20-30 cm, the fastening is carried out to the fittings that are supplied for supply.
- Very similar to the single-lever or joystick mixers in the sense of their installation - the instructions for installing them are absolutely different - there is simply a difference in the way of control. In such devices, spout can sometimes be no more than 10 cm at all - this is just enough for the jet to be beyond the flap on board the bath. Valves for such devices consists of a cartridge or ball valve, but this does not affect the place and method of installation.
- Models that are built into the wall are very different (in terms of installation) - all stop valves in such cases are inside and closed with a decorative cover, and only levers (gates) or a control stick and the spout itself remain outside. As you understand, in this case, the standard height of the faucet above the bath is determined by the height of the bath itself and is optimized by the desire of the occupants.
- But the models that are installed on board the bathroom, as in the photo above, can no longer be adjusted in height - here everything will depend on the shape (height) of the spout and the distance of the side cuff from the floor. By the way, it can be noted that the price of the built-in faucets is very high and some of them cost more than $ 1000.
- But what you see in the photo above this text can already be called a dependent model, that is, the spout turns not only on the bath, but also on the sink, therefore, its height will depend entirely on the level of the bowl installation.
In this case, the parameter at what height to put the faucet above the bathtub will depend entirely on the standard of the washbasin, and this is about 83-86 mm from the floor, but you still need to make the spout not cling to the bowl. In this case, fittings must be removed for installation, at a minimum, at a height of 930-960 mm, and if the nose is too bent, you will have to throw a couple more centimeters.
Note. Both on built-in and on double-purpose mixers (for baths and for sinks), stop valves can be of any type, but at this time they do not use a worm gear box crane for such models. Consequently, the adjustment of such devices can be carried out as valves and levers.
How to calculate the height of the installation
So, the level at which height of the mixer above the bath depends on the layout of the water supply pipes, that is, on how high the outlet fittings will be installed for cold and hot water. The wiring itself can be made on top of the main wall, under drywall, or laid into grooves, under plaster, but all parameters of height and width between fittings remain unchanged.
In order not to return to the question of width, we can immediately say that there should be 150 mm between the centers of the fittings - for this purpose special soldering strips with fittings integrated into them are sold - all that remains is to weld the pipes and attach it to the wall.
Let's consider a conditional situation with an acrylic bathtub, the height of which from the floor together with the legs will be 560 mm (installation can also be done by hand on the bricks, therefore, the distance from the floor can vary).
To these 560 mm we will add another 300 mm, which means that the centers of the fittings located on the hedging bar or without it should be located at the height of 860 mm from the finished floor. You can, of course, lower about 100 mm below, but this is at the discretion of the landlord.
So, at what height to hang the mixer over the bathroom, we already know, this is 860 mm, but where to get the point of reference, if there is no finished floor yet, because it is laid only after distributing water pipes and sewage systems.
In order to be able to determine the height of the coating on the floor, it is necessary, first of all, to do the wiring of the sewage system - this is what will allow to determine the height of the lidding screed from the subfloor. Do not forget also that under the screed (especially in the private sector) expanded clay can be filled in for insulation, therefore this layer should also be included in the total calculation.
In addition, you can install a floor heating system, on which you need two layers of screed, not counting the insulation and waterproofing, therefore, the calculation at what height the bathroom faucet will depend on all these layers.
Whatever it was, but in any case, you need to determine the level of the upper lighthouse tie and beat off the control line around the perimeter of the room with a paint cord (chokline). Most likely, ceramic tiles will be placed in your bathroom as a front cover, so you can add another 10 mm over the control line - this will be the starting point for determining the height of the mixer above the floor.
Conclusion
Now you understand at what height the faucet is placed in the bathroom, but these 860 mm should not be taken as the standard - ergonomics should be in the first place. Moreover, some models of baths, for example, cast iron, together with the legs can be either higher or lower, so determine the distance you need given this parameter.
