And so that all these activities do not bring trouble, you must properly equip the drain hole. In the bath there is always a lot of water, and it must somehow be disposed of. How to make a drain hole for a bath with his own hands will be discussed in this article.

The drain pit itself is not a complex hydraulic structure. Practically anyone can cope with its creation, but before starting work, it is necessary to get acquainted with the types and varieties of pits:

  • Tight capacity. Such a pit settles in areas where underground water is shallow. The design is a simple sealed container of the required volume, dug into the ground. Choosing a place for such a drain hole, it is necessary to provide for the possibility of approaching an ashenizator machine for periodic pumping of the accumulated water;
  • Drainage pit. This design is most often used for baths that are not equipped with toilets. In this case, the container is installed without a bottom, and filter material is poured into it.

It is worth remembering that if there is a toilet in the bath, it is better to use a septic tank. In this case, the drains will be cleaned to the desired level (up to 80–90%) and they can be discharged into the ground without harm to the environment.

What materials can be used

The choice of material used will depend on the type of drain hole and your financial capabilities. As a rule, such structures are constructed:

From barrels

From barrels. You can use metal or plastic. The best option is the second option. Plastic is not susceptible to corrosion, so the drain hole will last longer. In addition, plastic barrels can be found in almost any volume.

Of brick

Of brick, best ceramic. The walls of the drain hole can be made in the form of brickwork. This option can be considered the most common. The popularity of the use of bricks is determined by their availability, because you can use second-hand products, and versatility (you can make a container of any size from a brick).

Out of concrete

Of concrete. For the construction of the drain hole, you can use concrete rings or make walls flood.

Of tires

From tires. Automobile tires perfectly tolerate the effects of aggressive media. In addition, similar material can be found free of charge at any tire fitting.

Tip! You can use other available materials, as long as they easily endure a long stay in the water.

Now let's talk about how to make a cesspool for a bath. The first step is to choose the right place. If you are using an airtight structure, you should install it near the entrance gate so that the assenizator machine can easily approach it.

It is best to build a cesspool no further than 5–10 m from the bath itself. It is worth remembering that the shorter the pipe, the less likely the occurrence of blockages. In addition, long communications require the installation of manholes, which increases the cost of all work.

Tip! There should be no large trees at the chosen place, as their roots can damage the walls of the tank. In addition, the drain hole is located away from drinking water sources. It is also worth keeping the distance from the neighboring site (1–5 m).

The next stage will be earthworks. You need to dig the pit itself under the drain hole, as well as trenches for sewer pipes. The top layer of soil can be distributed on the site, and the bottom, infertile, must be removed.

Further work will depend on the chosen material.

  1. If the drain hole is made of barrels (for example, plastic), then the course of work will be as follows. First, the barrel should not have a bottom. In addition, it is advisable to make drainage holes on the sides. It is desirable to wrap the barrel itself with geotextiles to prevent suspended particles from entering the soil. Secondly, the nozzle is supplied to the top of the barrel. It is desirable to make the top cover completely sealed, for which you can use a sealant. After preparing the barrel at the bottom of the pit, a cushion of rubble is made, 20–30 cm thick. After installing the container in the pit and connecting all the pipes, we fill in, we also use rubble for this.
  2. If you use old car tires in your work, first of all, the sides are cut from them, for which you can use a jigsaw. Then the bottom of the pit is filled with a layer of rubble or gravel, 30–40 cm thick. After that, tires can be stacked on top of each other. Laying is done so that the tires are tightly pressed, the joints should be minimal. Enter the sewer pipe is carried out at the level of the junction of the last and the penultimate ring. A hole is made in the upper tire in the lower part, and the upper edge is not cut off. The sewer pipe is inserted into the hole, the place of the insert is sealed. The final step will be the installation of the drain hole cover. To do this, you can use a metal or wooden shield. From above, the entire structure can be covered with soil.
  3. When using bricks, the work on the construction of the drain hole will not differ much from the previous options. At the bottom of the pit, a gravel pad is laid, then the walls are lined with brick using sand-cement mortar. The last step is to install the cover of metal or wood.
Installing concrete rings with a crane

If concrete rings are used, then special equipment (truck crane or manipulator) should be involved for the work. Such products weigh quite a lot, so cope with the installation alone will not work. Concrete rings can be used, even if they have small chips and holes.

Whatever material is selected, it is important to make the hatch for periodic inspection. For a certain time, the filter element is silted and requires cleaning.
