How to make a cesspool of concrete rings

A cesspit, with sewage connected to it, is an important structure on a private plot. This type of pit is considered the most common because of the simplicity of construction and low cost.

The construction of the sump can be performed in two different versions:

  1. Tightly pour the bottom of the concrete solution, install the rings and perform a seal. The functionality of this building will depend on frequent visits to the sewage disposal vehicle for pumping sewage.
  2. Fill the bottom with loose materials to absorb moisture, and then lower the rings. Such a device septic will allow less resort to pumping.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves, but consider all the details of the construction in order.

Selection of concrete rings

Concrete rings of different diameter

First of all, you need to pick up concrete rings, because you need to dig it to the size of the ring. Currently in the construction of pits are widely used rings with different diameters, which ranges from 0.7 to 2.5 meters. For home conditions, the best option is considered a ring with a height of 1 m and the same diameter. Putting five of these rings, you will have a 5 m pit3. For a small home site with a small number of people living this is enough. But if large amounts of water are foreseen, then the number of rings will have to be increased, or else rings with a larger diameter will be taken.

Tip on the edges of the rings. They are flat and with a special lock. The flat edge of the ring during installation must be precisely leveled and sealed with concrete. Rings, equipped with a locking connection, convenient to mount. Their tight connection will ensure good tightness. Decide on the bottom of the sump. If the pit is airtight, then you need to concrete the bottom. To avoid unnecessary trouble, it is advisable to purchase a concrete ring with a ready-made, cast bottom.

Location selection

The place for the cesspool was chosen in the garden

Well, you chose concrete rings, they were delivered to your site. The next stage of preparation is to choose the location of the future cesspool.

It is necessary, having previously calculated its volume, to be located in such a place that it was possible to lay a sewage system to it with the least obstacles and costs. The distance from the buildings should be maintained about 10 m, but not less than 5. The source of water should not be closer than 15 m to the pit. You should also take into account the distance from the fence, which should be at least 4 m. The depth should be no more than 5 m, although for ease of pumping by a sewage truck, the best option is 3 m. But then to increase the volume, larger rings should be used.

Training

Pit

After choosing the location, the laborious process begins. The first step is to dig a hole for fitting the rings. If a crane is involved in the work, the diameter of the pit is necessarily 40 cm larger than the diameter of the rings to be installed, and the depth is greater than the height of all the rings mounted on each other by 30 cm.

In the excavated pit it is necessary to prepare the bottom. The bottom soil is evenly leveled and compressed evenly by tamping. A sand cushion of about 10 cm is poured on top, filled with water from a hose, and again rammed. This bottom option is suitable for a ring with a ready bottom. If the ring without poured bottom, the bottom of the pit must be concreted. To do this, the reinforcement is cut across the width of the dug pit and is laid on the bottom in the form of a grid. The rods are knitted with each other by knitting wire, and a brick is placed under the finished mesh. Further, prepare a concrete solution with the addition of rubble and evenly fill the bottom. The reinforcement must be completely covered with mortar.

For the drainage option, the bottom is simply covered with bulk materials through which water will be absorbed. To do this, apply gravel, sand, gravel. At this stage of preparation is completed.

Installing rings

Installation of rings by crane

Since concrete rings are heavy, you need a truck crane to install them. The first ring is installed with the bottom. If you have a pit without bottom option, then any ring is taken and lowered into the pit with the help of a truck crane. The first ring is set by level. Then all the others are installed on it, and the seams are sealed with a cement sealant. All walls of the rings are also treated with waterproofing materials. On mounted rings mounted concrete cover with a hatch. Tightly seal the joints between the pit lid and the ring. Now you just have to cover the rings with the lid with the soil. When summing up the sewage system, in the place where the pipe enters the ring, a hole should be punched with a perforator.

It remains only to bring the sewer pipes.
