Tire septic tank: instructions

Outdoor sewage

In each country house a sewage system is created. All sewage pipes are displayed in a certain place. Previously, this used the usual cesspool, which had to be pumped out as far as filling. Today, it is increasingly possible to meet another device - a septic tank. It allows the treatment of wastewater. The septic tank can be purchased ready-made or made independently. To create it you can use different materials.

Advantages and disadvantages

Old car tires

When choosing a material for building a septic tank in their backyard, many choose old tires. This method has its advantages and disadvantages. The first are:

  • Cheapness Old tires can be easily found at any dump or backyards of auto repair shops and tire fittings.
  • Easy installation. To make such a septic tank, you do not need to have special knowledge and skills. In addition, there is no need to attract outsiders, all the work can be done independently.
  • Ease of calculations. The size of automobile tires is easy to know, therefore, it is easy to calculate the volume of the future septic tank and the amount of material needed.
  • Durability. Rubber easily withstands aggressive environmental influences.

But there are drawbacks. The most basic of them is the difficulty of creating an absolutely sealed container. Sewage and sewage can get into the ground, which in turn can lead to pollution of water sources and the surrounding nature.

How much to choose and where to place

Before you start looking for old car tires, you need to decide on their number and size. To do this, calculate the required volume of the primary chamber of the septic tank. It will directly depend on the number of people living in the house.

The volume of the septic tank may be different

If you rely on experience and various studies, you can find out that each person spends on average up to 200 liters of water every day. Such a volume is necessary for washing, washing, washing dishes and cooking. By multiplying this number by the number of people permanently living in the house, it is possible to calculate the volume of daily discharge. It can be slightly adjusted in a big way, if the house has automatic devices that use water (washing machine and dishwasher).

It is also worth considering the frequency of visiting the house by guests. Since in the first tank the water should be settled for at least three days, we multiply the volume of daily discharge by three. Based on the formula for calculating the volume of the cylinder (and it is precisely this form that will be the capacity), you can calculate its height.

From two and three tanks

If we talk about the location of the septic tank, then you should take into account the sanitary requirements and recommendations of specialists. Namely:

  • The septic tank should be placed at a considerable distance from the source of drinking water at the site (from 20 m for clay soils and from 50 m for sandy soils).
  • The distance from residential buildings should be at least 10 meters.
  • It is necessary to provide for the possibility of periodic pumping fluid from the septic tank. Therefore, the access roads for the aspener machine should be located nearby.
  • Do not forget the neighbors. If to use modern biological products, then smells can be avoided. But still not everyone will be happy if the cesspool is placed in the immediate vicinity of its fence.

Progress

Stages of work:

  1. First of all, prepare a pit, or rather two. In the first, larger size, heavy substances will settle. Then the effluent through the pipe will flow into the second chamber. It is there that will be cleaned with the help of biological products. The depth of the pits depends on the previously calculated volume. Their diameter is equal to the diameter of the tires, plus 20-30 centimeters for filling. Do not forget to connect both trenches with a trench for pipe laying. The pits themselves can be located at any distance and side relative to each other. But do not make a long distance.
  2. After the end of the earthmoving work we proceed to the bottom equipment. The first chamber must be sealed. Therefore, at its bottom it is necessary to build a sand-cement screed or lay a concrete slab of the desired size. In the second pit, it is enough to lay a sand or rubble pillow.
  3. The next step will be laying tires. Before starting work, the inside of the tire is cut off. In the first tank, tires are interconnected with a sealant or bitumen - cement mortar will not connect rubber tires tightly. In the second - they are simply stacked on top of each other.
  4. When laying the upper tires do not forget to make holes on the side. In the first tank they need two. The first to enter the sewer pipe, and the second - to drain into the second tank. It is advisable to make them below the level of soil freezing so as not to get a blockage from ice. In the second tank one hole is made.

Tip! When laying the connecting pipe it is necessary to make a bias towards the second pit.
