First you should prepare the necessary materials:

  • two plastic barrels with a volume of 250 liters. Metallic is better not to use, as they are highly susceptible to corrosion;
  • geotextiles;
  • sewer pipes from plastic with a diameter of 110 mm;
  • drain pipe;
  • fittings for the connection;
  • rubble and sand.

You can begin to manufacture a septic tank:

  1. The first step is digging the pit and trench for laying pipes. The pit under the septic tank should be 20? 30 cm more barrels in each direction. The depth must be done so that the top of the barrel is below the level of soil freezing, and for the second barrel the bottom must be somewhat deepened to ensure the slope.
  2. After a thorough tamping, a cushion of sand or crushed stone with a thickness of at least 10 cm is placed at the bottom of the pit. At the bottom you need to make fixings to hold the barrels. Otherwise, in spring, groundwater may push empty barrels.
  3. Now prepare yourself barrels. To do this, in the first one, which will play the role of camera No. 1, we cut two holes. One on the lid, the second on the side at a distance of 20 cm from the top edge. There will be three holes in the second barrel. One is also on top, the other two are on the sides (through them water will flow to the filtration fields). The diameter of all holes should be 110 mm.
  4. Now it's the turn of the assembly. We lower both barrels in a ditch and we make their connection. The pipe from the house should enter the top hole of the first barrel. From the side opening of chamber No. 1 the pipe passes into the top cover of the second barrel. From the side openings of chamber 2, we take two pipes to the filtration fields. All connections must be sealed.
  5. Before starting filling it is necessary to fill the septic tank with water. At the same time you can check the sealing compounds. Backfilling is made of sand and crushed stone mixture, layers with rammed.
  6. Above the first barrel, it is necessary to make a manhole and ventilation. This is necessary to clear the chamber of accumulated solid precipitation.
  7. Two pipes from the second barrel must enter the field of post-treatment. For them, also digs a pit, at the bottom of which is laid geotextiles and a layer of rubble. Then put pipes with pre-drilled holes, and everything is filled up with another layer of rubble.

The resulting septic tank of plastic barrels perfectly copes with the cleaning of wastewater from the country house. It is designed for a small amount of sewage. If a lot of people live in the house constantly and all year round, then such a septic tank can not cope with its tasks.
