Depth of sewer network
When it comes to installing a water supply system for a private home, you need to know that this process includes a whole range of activities, one of which is the construction of a sewage system, which means you need to know what the depth of the sewer pipe should be.
Freezing depth

One of the main conditions mentioned above is the indicator of the average depth of soil freezing. Here it is necessary to make a reservation that, depending on the geographical location of the region, this value will differ. For example, the northern regions or territories of Siberia may freeze through several meters in winter, while the soil in the south is unlikely to freeze even a meter. Specific indicators can be obtained when conducting a soil survey. Although it is worth making a reservation that for the middle lane this may be within about a meter and a half.

However, the minimum depth at which the sewage pipes should be laid has a certain dependence on the length of the pipe itself. The point is that during work a certain minimum angle of inclination of the pipe must be ensured, which is about 2 cm per meter of length. For completeness, you can give an example. When laying the sewer pipe with a length of 10 m, the depth of the trench at its upper point will be 20 cm higher than at the bottom. Slope necessary for the free flow of effluent.
Tip! The greater the slope of the pipe, the faster the content will move along the pipe, which means that the risk of freezing will decrease, but this will increase the likelihood of clogging.
Among other things, it is worth knowing that if the laid pipes are planned to be output not into the septic tank, but to any central highway, then the depth of the location of the connection should be taken into account. Here it must be added that in this case certain problems may arise. Their essence is that the central highways of sewage can be located quite high relative to the surface of your site.

With relatively large volumes there is no need for deep pipe penetration. Given this factor, it may happen that the discharge pipe of the house sewer system may be too close to the surface. This circumstance can be leveled if a special fecal pump is used, which from the pit will periodically pump the drains into the main line, preventing them from freezing in the pipeline. Another way out of this situation could be the equipment of the pipe by the heating system.
The above methods will increase the cost of work and increase the complexity of their implementation. If you want to choose an alternative method, then you should think about installing a separate septic tank, in which you can hold the pipe at a sufficient depth.
Characteristics of pipes

Speaking about the installation works of the sewerage system, it is impossible to ignore the fact that the depth of laying of pipes also depends on the strength characteristics they possess. As a rule, for the purposes indicated above, plastic or asbestos-cement pipes are used. Usually, manufacturers specify optimal operating conditions. There are varieties of plastic pipes with increased mechanical strength, which can be laid at a depth of 5 meters.
Tip! If the pipes are laid under the road, then they will be an additional load. In these places, special double-layer pipes of increased mechanical strength should be used.

If for any reason the depth of laying of pipes turns out to be somewhat less than the minimum allowable, then special materials can be used as insulation. In addition, if we consider that the temperature of the effluent is at least room temperature, then it simply will not have time to freeze. If we are talking about a country house, then there is no particular cause for concern, since in the case of system downtime there is no water in it, and therefore there is simply nothing to freeze.

Separately, you can say a few words about the construction of storm sewers. The laying of pipes for it may be carried out at a shallow depth, since its operation in the cold season is not initially assumed.
