How to drown out the water pipe
When repairing water supply networks, situations are possible when some sections of the old pipeline remain completely unused and need reliable blocking. Learn how to block the pipe by examining the material posted in our article.
Blocking methods

The simplest and most reliable method of sealing pipes is the preparation of threads at their end and the installation of a suitable diameter plug. Some home craftsmen advise in a similar situation to use a metal bolt of the appropriate size, which is hammered into the hole, and then scalded around the pipe circumference. However, the use of these techniques is possible only if the end part of the metal pipe is satisfactory.
In that case, if the state of the blocked area is estimated as “dilapidated” - you will not be able to use the options listed above. In this situation, a proven "grandfather" method is used, which involves driving a wooden cork of an appropriate size (the so-called "chopik") into a pipe hole.
This “plug” is recommended to be made of waterproof wood, which is treated with resin in order to protect against rotting. Some time after driving into the pipe, the chopik swells up and reliably blocks the hole from leaks. As for plastic pipes, wooden plugs are not recommended for their plugs.
Plastic pipe sealing
Immediately, we note that there are two types of sealing plastic pipes: permanent and temporary. The choice of one or another blocking method is determined not only by the pipe material, but also by the condition of the entire pipeline as a whole.

Thus, temporary sealing is used when access to the pipe is difficult and involves the use of a special polypropylene plug with internal thread. Before installing it, an external thread is cut on the plastic pipe using a die of the appropriate size.

Tip! For permanent blocking of the plastic channel, it is best to use a special welding device (soldering iron). The adhesion of elements in such a connection is carried out at the molecular level, which provides it with the necessary strength. Note also that with the help of a soldering device you can fix a regular plastic cap on the pipe.

Materials and tools
To work on the blocking of water pipes of any type, you will need the following tools and consumables:
- hacksaw or so-called "Bulgarian";
- a file (rasp) for removing burrs from the ends of the tubes;
- sharp mounting knife;
- thread-cutting device (if necessary);
- plugs and screw plugs used for temporary and permanent blocking of pipes;
- silicate adhesive (sealant);
- welding device with a set of nozzles or a building dryer (for sealing plastic pipes).

In conclusion, we note that the work on blocking the end openings of pipes, as a rule, does not require any special skill from the performer. At the same time, almost the entire working tool (with a few exceptions) is always available in any household.
