Pipes

When landscaping the backyard little things do not happen. So, it is desirable to equip the entry to the territory with a drainage pipe. Very often, ditches are made along the perimeter of the site in order to divert thawed and rainwater. In order not to impede entry and laid drainage pipe. But here it is important to take into account many factors, which will be discussed in this article. Here you will be told about how to put the pipes in the ditch for the race to the site and what details of such work should be known.

Choosing the right pipe

Pipe selection

The first thing to do is choose the right pipe. Here the value will be its ability to withstand the load. Even if you only have a car, you should not use lightweight construction.

Reinforced concrete

Tip! On the site a lot of different work, so someday you will definitely need a heavy truck or special equipment. Therefore, the strength of the pipe is better to take with a margin.

As a rule, the following types of pipes are used for arranging the ditch in front of the site:

  • Metallic. Such materials have been used for a long time even despite the tendency of iron to corrode. The fact is that for these purposes thick-walled pipes are used, which are able to serve regularly for 30-40 years.
  • Concrete pipes have a large diameter and a decent weight. Therefore, to install them without the involvement of special equipment is almost impossible. But concrete products can serve for a very long time without losing their carrying capacity.
  • You can use concrete trays. Such products are rarely used, due to the high cost of installation. The trays are very fragile and their installation requires the attraction of special equipment. Although the designs themselves look very aesthetic.
  • Plastic products. Today, there are special corrugated pipes of large diameter. Due to the peculiarities of its structure, such constructions easily withstand considerable loads. In addition, the plastic serves for a long time (it is not afraid of corrosion and the effects of corrosive media), is easy to install and has a low cost (compared to all the analogues listed above).

Very often, the owners make their own designs for the passage of water. To do this, use the usual plastic pipe of large diameter. It fits into the ditch. Then around it create a belt of reinforcing mesh, and all this is poured concrete. Such designs will be inexpensive, while they can be operated for many decades.

Working process

Working process

It is necessary to remember when arranging the entrance to the site through a ditch - this is what water should pass only through the pipe. If it seeps through the mound itself, it will inevitably begin to wash the soil. Such a process will lead to the collapse of the embankment and the re-execution of all works.

The course of work itself will be ironed as follows:

  1. The ditch itself is being prepared. From it all the garbage is removed, and the slopes are compacted.
  2. Then the base is prepared for the pipe. You can just make a sand pillow, but it is better to fill the concrete bed. To do this, a notch is made by the size of the pipe, a reinforcing mesh is laid into it and filled with sand-cement mortar. The pipe is laid into the still uncured base and pressed tightly.
  3. Then the pipe is filled with rubble of medium fractions. The thickness of this layer must be at least 30 cm.
  4. Further, it is better to lay a layer of geotextile across the entire width of the future carriageway. This material will redistribute the load created when driving a car.
  5. To fill the roadway, you need to use a moisture-resistant material. Clay is best suited for this purpose. It should be laid in layers with careful tamping.
  6. The final step is to create an additional protective layer of the mound. As such, concreting or ground coating can be used.

Tip! In the ditch, along with the drains, a lot of garbage will fall. Sticks, foliage and household trash can quickly clog the pipe of small diameter. Therefore, the size of the pipe is better to choose more. So, and blockages will be less, and cleaning the pipe will not cause problems.

Scheme of arrival at the site

So, laying the pipe in a ditch before entering the site is a fairly simple matter. The main thing is to choose the right pipe and adhere to the technology of its installation.
