Pipes

In order to increase such an indicator of the heating system as efficiency, and in order to prolong its service life, glass fiber reinforced polypropylene pipes are used for installation. In practice, it was found that such materials are much more efficient than their metal counterparts. After 12 months of operation, this becomes noticeable due to the fact that the metal at high temperatures in the accelerated mode begins to rust.

Of course, this phenomenon has a serious impact on the quality of the heating of the room, since heating, mounted from metal pipes, very quickly becomes inappropriate to the requirements stated in the regulatory documentation. But this article will tell you about what kind of polypropylene products are and how to choose from a huge variety of the most suitable ones.

Advantages of polypropylene pipes

PP pipeline

Characteristics of a polypropylene pipe: the system reinforced by fiber glass has a number of advantages:

  • Low price of material on the market;
  • High durability of the heating system due to the fact that the welding joints are much more reliable and durable in comparison with the collet;
  • High level of thermal conductivity, minimizing the coefficient of heat loss.

Polypropylene products intended for the installation of the heating system are subjected to high-temperature treatment in the manufacturing process, and therefore are able to change their dimensions when heated.

Note! Linear expansion of polypropylene pipes reinforced with fiberglass is a feature for such materials.

This property determines the recommendation of experts that it is necessary to use reinforced polypropylene pipes for heating.

Note! Despite the fact that the cost of reinforced pipes is 40% higher, they have a more attractive appearance, and they require much less compressor loops for the installation of the pipeline. Thus, you can get a system with a minimum of welded joints and a high level of reliability.

Types of reinforced PP pipes

Marking polypropylene pipes reinforced with fiberglass, aluminum or composite directly depends on how the product was reinforced (read also the article Seamless Pipe: Application Field and Manufacturing Process).

Depending on this factor, there is the following classification of pipes:

  1. Reinforced with a continuous sheet of aluminum - a continuous aluminum sheet is applied to the outer side of the blank. In the process of joining the metal layer is cut by 1 mm;
Aluminum as an enhancement
  1. Reinforced perforated aluminum sheet - just as in the previous case, is made on the outer surface of the pipe, and when joined, it is cut by a distance of 1 mm;
  2. Strengthening the product with an aluminum sheet - in this case, the pipe walls are reinforced either in the middle or closer to its internal diameter;

Council Manufacturers assure that the welding instruction for this type of materials may not provide for preliminary stripping.

  1. Reinforced with fiberglass - this layer of reinforcement is located in the middle of the pipe. In this case, the inner and outer parts of the product are made of polypropylene.
  2. Amplification with composite - a composite material is used to strengthen the product, in this case the composite is a mixture of polypropylene and fiberglass. In the manufacture of this type of products, polypropylene acts as the outer and inner surface, between which the composite is placed.

Which PP pipes to choose

In order to decide and make a choice in favor of a particular material, you need to know all its pros and cons:

  1. Pipes with solid aluminum reinforcement must be cleaned before making the connection, which increases the labor intensity of the installation;
  2. Perforated sheet differs in that it has a higher coefficient of conductivity of oxygen, which, once in the heating circuit, can be dangerous for the boiler;
  3. Fiberglass reinforcement is great because it does not require cleaning before connecting the pipeline;
  4. Composite-reinforced pipes are considered the best option for heating. In this case, reinforcement makes the product as strong as possible and minimally subject to linear expansion.

Production of polypropylene pipes

On the photo - granules

The technological process begins with the filling of polypropylene granules into a specialized bunker, in which the melting process takes place. With the help of the flange, an extrusion head is attached to this bunker, limiting such pipe parameters as the inner and outer diameter.

The future non-reinforced type product goes to it. This process is conducted in automatic mode according to the program of the command block.

After the mass leaves the bunker, it enters the calibrator, which is supplied with cold water, cooling the product. The calibration process completes pulling equipment. The product is obtained exactly corresponding to the specified dimensions.

The last stage of production is the process of cutting in accordance with the measured length according to GOST. And then reinforcement is made according to the chosen method and material for reinforcement.

Connection and installation

There are three main methods used in the process of installation of PP pipeline of reinforced products:

  • Fixing with adhesive is one of the most reliable methods of fasteners. To implement it is quite simple - specialized glue is applied to the pipe, and it connects to the coupling. For a glue to set in just a couple of seconds;
  • Threaded connection - this connection is made using a mounting nut, which fixes an element with a thread on the pipe. This method is reliable, but not always applicable, in addition, the threaded connection is the most expensive;
  • Welded fastener method - the edges of the coupling or pipes are melted a little with the help of specialized welding equipment, and connecting them in this state is not difficult. This principle of installation is considered the most reliable.

How to solder

Fastener

The connection manual with the help of soldering consists of the following steps:

  1. The pipe of the necessary length is cut off;
  2. The device is set to the required temperature, and it turns on;
  3. Wait for the indicators on the device to turn on and insert the pipe and fitting into it, push them down;
  4. The heating time of these elements directly depends on the diameter;
  5. After the heating time expires, the elements are removed and connected.

In order to connect the created pipeline to the radiators of heating, it is necessary to purchase special fixing kits that need to be screwed onto a valve or tap.

Note! The only drawback in this fastener can only be that finding the necessary kit for sale is not always realistic.

Finally

Gain circuit

Modern consumers are increasingly choosing polypropylene materials reinforced with fiberglass when building heating systems, due to the high technical indicators that allow them to create a pipeline of any configuration (see also the article Pipe for a fireplace: 6 secrets to a good choice).

The main thing is that the pipes you chose are suitable for the heating system because the discrepancy can lead to disastrous consequences. Do not neglect the tips and videos in this article, and then you will certainly become the owner of a durable and reliable heating system.
