Installing a funnel in a private house
It is not a secret for anybody that living in a private household has both indisputable advantages and certain costs. One of them is the need to periodically carry out preventive maintenance work on all systems, not to mention repair or construction works.
Of course, it is possible and to live in a private house to turn to the services of hired specialists, but often this entails very significant additional costs, and therefore it will be sufficiently expedient to perform simple works independently. For example, installing a funnel in a private house is a feasible task for anyone with minimal skills to work with the tool. About what the process is, and what are the features of its implementation will be discussed below.
General description and principle of operation

To begin with, it is necessary to clarify what a fan analysis pipe is and what its purpose is. Without these moments, a complete understanding of the essence of the forthcoming works is impossible. So, the funnel pipe is the part of the sewage system that is installed on the main drain pipe (riser). In fact, this element is a vertically located pipe, one end of which is connected to the riser, and the other goes out.
Tip! The fan pipe can be made of any material, but more often it is made from the same as the rest of the sewer.

As one of the most common and easy-to-work version, plastic can be mentioned. Plastic pipes are not subject to corrosion, they are light in weight and in installation and affordable. As a definite disadvantage, a relatively small strength can be distinguished, but the impact pipe does not initially assume the effect of large loads, and therefore this point can be ignored.
It should also be added that there are certain limitations that relate to the diameter of the funnel pipe. It should not be either too small or too wide. When choosing, you must be guided by the diameter of the drain pipe. Fan should be approximately equal to her diameter. In most cases we are talking about 100–110 mm.

As for the purpose of the funnel, it is intended to prevent the penetration of an unpleasant odor from the sewage system into the interior. The fact is that if the volume of liquid drained into the standpipe is too large, a kind of water extraction from the bathroom will occur, according to the principle of a syringe. After the drain is completed, the pipe will be completely empty, and unpleasant odors will pass inside. This situation is especially characteristic if there are several sanitary facilities in the house or equipment is installed that requires large volumes of liquid that is drained into the sewer system.
The fan pipe installed on the riser will provide the necessary air flow for discharge, or rather, the necessary difference in pressure, and therefore the siphons will be complete, which will prevent the problem.
Installation

As mentioned above, the installation of a fan pipe is not a particularly difficult task and it can be done by hand, but it’s worth mentioning that there are certain rules here.
- The diameter of the pipe should not be less than that of the main drain. Otherwise, there will be no effect from its installation.
- Since the main purpose of this element is the removal of unpleasant odors, it is better to place the opposite part of the riser in a little-used place. And if the fan pipe is located vertically, then it is better to withdraw it through the roof. As a matter of fact, this option will be optimal, as additional thrust will be created, facilitating the work of the system.
- When connecting the pipe, you need to keep in mind that it should be connected to the riser in a warm room, but its output should be only on the street.
The very same installation is quite simple. It is only necessary with the help of adapters to connect the fan pipe to the drain. As always, when working with sewer pipes, it is necessary to monitor the tightness of the joints. With regards to the location of the pipe, it is worth saying that it can be anything. You can lay the element horizontally, but you can put it vertically. It does not matter much, but the second option is somewhat preferable.
In conclusion, we can add that, in principle, the installation of a sewage pipe is not mandatory for the functioning of a sewer drain of a private house. If you do not intend to connect a large number of plumbing elements and household appliances that require connection to the sewage system, then it is quite possible to do without it. If it is decided to install this part of the system, then for a better understanding of the issue, you can read the video at the end of the article.
