How to drain water from a water heater: ways, step by step
The water heater is one of the most important household appliances in homes and apartments that do not have centralized hot water. They are powered by electricity and constantly provide residents with hot water. Special care is not necessary, as manufacturers are trying to do everything in such a way that users do not have unnecessary trouble. But still from time to time the boiler must be cleaned of scale, which is formed during operation. To do this work, you will need to drain water from it. Or the boiler may be in the country, and in the winter in such an unheated room the water does not freeze, it must also be drained.
How does the boiler

It is necessary to carefully read the instructions from the manufacturer, find out the features of your boiler and its principle of operation. After all, there is no single standard by which such devices are made - it all depends on the manufacturer.
The main part of the boiler is a water tank in the form of a tank. It is made of ordinary or stainless steel, covered with enamel. Inside the tank installed heater, which, in fact, heats the water. To automate its on and off, the boiler was equipped with a thermostat. From the bottom of the tank you can see two pipes. One of them for supplying cold water to the tank, the other - for issuing hot. They are connected to the pipe and the tap with a drain hole.

Some boilers have a small capacity, in such models the water supply is provided not from below, but from above. There is no drain hole in them. To drain the water from such a boiler, it will have to be removed and turned over. If you want to buy a small boiler, choose one so that in the future you can easily drain the liquid from it.
Ways to remove water

There are 2 ways you can drain the water. They are quite simple, so anyone can cope with this task. Consider each one of them.
- The first method is the easiest, but then the water will flow for a very long time. If you have a drain valve (trigger), just open it and the water will gradually flow out of the boiler. This method is effective when your boiler has a small volume, and you are in no hurry. When your tank is 50 liters or more, it will take a very long time to wait. It happens that it just does not work. In this case, you better consider the following method.
- The second method is to disconnect the waste valve and the hot water outlet pipe. First you need to turn off the water in the house. Then turn off the boiler from the outlet. After that, disconnect the hose to the cold water supply at the base of the boiler together with the relief valve. But even then, water will not flow out, since a vacuum has formed in the tank. You need to provide air. To do this, disconnect the hose to the hot water supply. Now the water from the boiler will flow out within a few minutes.
Termex

To remove water from Termeks boilers, you can use the instructions that should be included.
For work you will need:
- adjustable wrench;
- hose.
In general, the process should be performed as follows:
- Disconnect the boiler from the mains.
- Shut off the cold water tap.
- Then you need to open the hot water in the near mixer. About 3 liters of water will flow out of the boiler, and the pressure inside the tank will be equal to the external pressure. Now the tap on the mixer can be closed.
- In the place where cold water is supplied to the boiler, unscrew the hose from the bottom of the check valve.
- Then unscrew the valve. If your boiler is placed above the bath, water will flow directly into it. If not, in place of the valve, connect the hose and flush it into the sink, bathtub or toilet bowl so that the water goes down the drain.
- Again, in order for the water to flow out, it is necessary to ensure the flow of air into the boiler. This can be done by opening the tap to the hot water supply, if it additionally has a tee through which air will flow. If not, simply unscrew the nut and disconnect the hose.
- Wait until all the water is out of the boiler.
Tip! Flat water heaters often have an additional pipe with a plug. In this case, as soon as you shut off the cold water, immediately unscrew the cap. After that, put a hose on this nozzle and, unscrewing the nut, remove the hose for supplying hot water.
Ariston

Boilers model Ariston principle of water drain is similar.
The sequence of work:
- Turn off the device.
- Shut off the faucet to the cold water supply.
- Open the nearest mixer by turning on hot water. When a little water has run out, the pressure has leveled, you can close the tap.
- To allow air to enter the tank, open the valve that is located on the hot water hose. If there is none, just unscrew the hose.
- There is a drain valve on the cold water supply pipe. To him you need to connect the hose, send it to the sewer and open the faucet. All the water will drain in a few minutes.
Now you know how to drain the water from the boiler and can easily clean it or carry out other repairs. It all depends on how you connect your water heater. Therefore, in order to simplify the task in the future, you can connect an instrument with tees, a relief valve and a drain valve.
