Overhaul in the apartment necessarily affects the bathroom. Whether the walls will be tiled with ceramic tiles or plastered and painted with moisture-resistant paint, in any case, the bathroom completely removes all the plumbing, including the sink, toilets and bathtub, changes the wiring of the water supply and sewage systems. Performing finishing work, at the initial stage of repair it is necessary to have an idea of how to fix the sink to the wall, if its design suggests such an installation option.

Ways to install the sink

Works on the installation and connection of the sink

The sink layout and installation method can be as follows:

  • sink in the cabinet;
  • sink on the countertop (built-in top or bottom);
  • pedestal sink (tulip);
  • sink hanging on the wall.

In most cases, to save space, ease of maintenance, free access to the water supply system and sewage disposal, the sink is fixed to the wall. This also applies to the shell installation option on the pedestal (tulip), since the latter performs a more aesthetic function, closing the hoses and the siphon.

In different models of sinks, the method of installation may differ structurally: the sink is fastened directly through mounting bolts or through brackets. How to fix the sink to the wall is indicated schematically in the instructions, which must be studied before installation.

Instruments

Plumbing tool

To attach the sink you will need the following tools:

  • perforator;
  • drill and drill tile;
  • adjustable wrench;
  • socket wrenches for easy tightening bolts under the sink;
  • screwdrivers;
  • hammer;
  • synthetic flax, tow;
  • marker;
  • level.

Installation procedure

Bathroom sink attached to the wall

The shell must be fixed to the main wall that can withstand the load. Having chosen the place of installation of the sink, it is necessary to mark the attachment points on the wall. The sink is typically located at a level of 70–80 cm from the floor. Height can be changed under the physical data of residents.

We measure the distance on the back wall of the sink from the top edge to the beginning of the holes for fastening. Taking this distance into account, we draw a horizontal line on the wall at the installation site of the sink. We mark on this line the centers of the holes for fasteners. The required distance is measured from the center to the center of the holes on the back wall of the sink.

Markup for holes

If the sink is attached with brackets, mark the holes for the brackets. For this, the centers of the axes of the brackets are marked on the horizontal line. This size is indicated in the instructions. It can be measured independently between the centers of the holes for the brackets on the back side of the sink. From these axial centers, vertical lines are drawn down the level. Attached to these lines brackets, marked holes for mounting brackets.

We drill tile

Holes are drilled (marked) at the marked points. If the sink is attached to the wall through a tile, then first you need to drill holes in the tile with a special drill for ceramics, with a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the fasteners. This is necessary to preserve the integrity of the tile while drilling. The diameter of the drill should be equal to the diameter of the dowel nail or anchor bolt.

Fastener

Insert dowels into drilled holes. If the installation is carried out with the help of brackets, then you must first attach them to the wall, and then sink onto them. If the brackets are missing, then the sink is fastened with fasteners directly to the wall. The sink is put on the studs screwed into the wall, after which it is pressed against the wall with the help of large washers. To fix the sink you need specifically for this purpose designed fasteners.

Shell fixing nut

In the presence of a pedestal, the marking of the holes for fastening the shell is carried out when it is placed on the tulip.

Attached to the wall sink check for rigidity, lack of backlash.

So that the water does not flow between the wall and the sink, the gap between them is coated with silicone sealant or a plastic plinth is glued on the edge of the sink.

Mixer installation

After installing the sink is mounted mixer. It is fixed on the sink with studs, a special form of a washer, rubber gaskets and fastening nuts.

The mixer is connected to the hot and cold water outlets using flexible hoses.

Mixer connection

A siphon is attached to the drain hole of the sink, which is connected to the sewer pipe using corrugations. When installing the crane and siphon check the correct location of the rubber (silicone) sealing rings. Their wrong position will lead to water leakage.

Install and connect the siphon

After installation, all connections are checked again. Shut-off valves for supplying water to the system are opened in order to check the tightness of the connection of the mixer, flexible hoses. The tightness of the drain system is checked in the following way. It is necessary to close the drain hole in the sink and fill it with water. After opening the drain hole, the water will completely fill the siphon, all the connections will be under a slight pressure of water, the places of the untight connection will be felt.
