Own well is the most popular way to provide water for a country house or summer cottage. The working unit for the water supply system is a submersible pump, which is lowered into the well to collect and pump water. It requires periodic maintenance, but its extraction can be overshadowed by some difficulties that may be encountered by both newcomers and experienced homeowners. The pump may be stuck in the well. To know how to get the pump from the well, it is necessary to understand the reasons why it cannot be pulled out. Factors can be both objective and subjective.

Root causes of extraction problems

If the cable breaks, you can use such a device.

  • Silting of the pump after its subsidence or infrequent operation.
  • Breakage of the cable due to being in an aggressive environment. The oxidation process (the appearance of rust) as a result of exposure to water and oxygen.
  • Cable sag under load over time, followed by jamming of the pump during lifting.
  • Mechanical damage to the walls of the well.
  • Hit by foreign objects.

At the first signs of pump seizure, it is not necessary to make sudden movements and jerks, so as not to aggravate the situation, as a result of which the water intake well can fail completely with the loss of the pump and all associated elements. Nevertheless, you can get the pump yourself, without resorting to the services of specialists.

If this is not a cable break, you will not be able to see the cause without special equipment, since the depth of the well can reach tens of meters, and the gap between the pipe and the pump is only a couple of centimeters.

Silting

Pump silted in the well

Well-drilling is a common problem if the water supply system works irregularly, seasonally, without periodic pumping. It is necessary to clean the well periodically. Silting symptoms are the complete immobility of the pump during the first attempt to lift it, since it is completely immersed in the sludge. The pump must be “shaken” by gradually applying force and loosening the tension of the cable. Silt, sand will be gradually washed away with water, after which the pump will be removed. Applying sharp force can cause the cable to break. It is also possible to free the silted pump in other ways, without subjecting the cable to stresses. A vibrating pump without hoses is lowered into the well. Passing water through it, it raises a dense sediment. It is possible to lower after one more pump already with a hose, for pumping out dirt. Gradually, the pump will be released from the mud captivity.

When lowering the pump into the well, many homeowners do not fasten the cable, cable and hose to each other with their clamps. For this reason, the cable may sag under its weight to get tangled around the pump, causing it to become jammed in the pipe during lifting. If it is stuck, then you should not continue to pull the pump up. To correct the situation, it is necessary to lower the pump down to remove the slack of the hose and cable. The pump which is released from jamming is lifted up again. At the same time it is necessary to ensure that the cable, cable and hose are in the tensioned state. Any loosening of the cable tension may again cause the pump to jam.

Mechanical damage

Mechanical damage to the pipe during installation and operation can also cause the pump to not have free play when it is raised. If lifting the pump, heard or felt the blow of the pump against the pipe wall, then the obstacle may be caused by the following damage:

  • deformations and dents of the pipe due to ground movements;
  • poorly welded seam;
  • poor-quality pipe assembly.

Slow rotation around its axis with simultaneous attempts to raise the pump can help to bypass the obstacle and remove it to the surface. An absolute guarantee of this method does not.

Foreign objects

A stone may fall into such a well.

Very often foreign objects get into the well that cause the pump to get stuck in the pipe. It is very difficult to manage on your own in such a case and it is recommended to seek help from specialists.

The desire to save on materials related to the well equipment can lead to dire consequences. The pump is operated in a hostile environment, therefore it is required to use only stainless steel cables, durable, insulated from electric cables. All materials must be complete: the presence of any twists, knots, which from a load can lead to a breakage, is unacceptable. The use of steel, plastic cables and ropes is strictly prohibited when lowering the pump into the well. If he broke off, then in any case will have to seek help from a special team.

In no case do not try to get the pump itself homemade improvised means: cats, hooks, etc. Improper homeowner actions can lead to a complete loss of a well.

Some ways to raise the pump when it is jamming or silting can be viewed on the video.

After cleaning the well, the pump returns to its place.
