How to install a sink with a pedestal

The use of modern sanitary equipment in the bathroom can significantly improve its appearance, as well as improve the convenience of using individual appliances. These include the washbasin, which, if desired, can be mounted independently. But before you install a sink with a pedestal in the bathroom, we advise you to familiarize yourself with the installation features of sanitary equipment of this class.

Immediately, we note that when working with it, it is necessary to observe the following procedure for performing installation operations:

• preparation of the installation site;
• marking under fasteners;
• installation of the components of the sanitary device (fastening to the wall in pre-prepared places).

In addition, you will need to worry about special tools and materials, the presence of which is a reliable guarantee of high-quality installation of bathroom equipment.

Tools and materials

For successful installation, you will definitely need consumables and tools such as:

• perforator (or hammer drill);
• building level of any class;
• special glue;
• adjustable wrench;
• marking tool (pencil);
• set of fasteners.

Before starting work, it is necessary to shut off the water supply valves installed in front of the meters.

Preparing the installation site

Despite the fact that the sink sink rests on a pedestal - its fixation on the wall is still necessary. That is why, when preparing the place for the sink, attention is paid not only to the supporting platform, but also to the wall, which must have sufficient strength. In the case when the wall partition in the place of fixing the shell and pedestal is made of plasterboard - for reliable fastening, bolts with a distributed load (the so-called helicopters) are used instead of ordinary screws.

The floor area under the pedestal must be strong and level, which guarantees the stable position of the whole structure.

It is advisable to carry out a trial assembly of the pedestal and the sink (without fixing them on the supporting sections) in order to verify the correctness of the installation of the structure. To align it horizontally, you can use the building level of any type.

If you find any distortions or irregularities under the pedestal, you can lay silicone pads or level the floor with a cement-sand mortar.

Markup

The marking of installation sites is carried out during the test assembly of the sanitary device. In this case, the contours of the contact zones, as well as the points of attachment of individual elements to the wall, are enclosed using a marking tool. Upon completion of the installation marking, the previously assembled structural elements are dismantled and laid aside.

When a so-called continuous pedestal is installed under the sink, which fits tightly against the wall with its entire back surface, difficulties may arise. In addition to careful preparation of the site of contact, as well as its accurate marking, you should worry in advance about the coincidence of the outlet of the drain pipe with the inlet sewer opening in the bathroom. It is best if this item is taken into account even before the purchase of a set of equipment.

Plumbing installation

Note that the kit you purchased plumbing, as a rule, includes not only fasteners, but also special elastic pads under the sink and pedestal. Before mounting the structural elements in the wall, a perforator is used to make holes for fixings in which plastic dowels are fixed to the glue.

First, a shell is fixed on the wall with special bolts with gaskets, which is pre-aligned with the horizon. When plumbing is installed, the bolts are first “seized” in the dowels, and then gently (without excessive force) are tightened to a state that ensures that the sink fits snugly to the wall.

Then, using flexible hoses, the tap of the water supply network is connected to the mixer installed on the sink. After that, it will be possible to proceed to connecting the sink drain, mounted in compliance with the well-known rules (with the installation of an overflow system and a siphon connected to the sewage system).

To install the support on the previously prepared place, you will need to slightly lift the sink with the bolts not fully tightened, after which you can slide the pedestal, hiding the siphon and pipes in its case.

After installing the pedestal in place, it remains only to finally tighten the fastening bolts, at the same time leveling the sink with the level. After completing these procedures, you can turn on the water supply and make sure that there are no leaks.
