Drain pipes that need for installation

Sewage

Plastic pipes for sewage drainage, which are used at the household level, as a rule, have a diameter of 32 mm, 50 mm, 100 mm and 150 mm, although, the two most popular types are 50 mm, 100 mm. In addition, fragments of different lengths are issued for mounting the wiring of the system, and they can be 25 cm, 35 cm, 50 cm, 75 cm, 100 cm, 150 cm and 200 cm (fragmentation of a 150-mm pipe starts from 50 cm, usually smaller ones do not produce).

We will describe in more detail about such elements below, and also see a demonstration of the thematic video in this article.

The principle of sewage and plumbing in an apartment or house

Equipment for sewer pipeline

Note. The entire system, mounted for sewage, mainly consists of pipes of different diameters. But they all have to dock somehow, so the industry for this purpose produces uniform fittings (PVC), as well as rubber cuffs (reductions) and sealing rings.

Pipes

Main settings

The most basic parameter, whether it is a drain pipe from the roof or it will be a sewer riser, or horizontal wiring of a smaller diameter, can be called the outer diameter - the throughput does not depend on it, but it is precisely that that is paid attention to during installation. Below we offer to your attention a table of all standard sizes of polyvinyl chloride sewage.

Outer diameter (mm) Ring stiffness nominal (SN, kN / m2)
Dn Tolerant deviations 2 four eight
SDR 51 SDR 41 SDR 38
Thickness of pipe walls (mm)
en Add. off en Add. off en Add. off
50 ± 0.2 - - 1,3 ± 0.4 1.6 ± 0.4
63 ± 0.2 - - 1.6 ± 0.4 2.0 ± 0.5
75 ± 0.3 - - 1.9 ± 0.4 2.3 ± 0.5
90 ± 0.3 - - 2.2 ± 0.5 2.8 ± 0.5
110 ± 0.3 - - 2.7 ± 0.5 3.4 ± 0.5
125 ± 0.3 - - 3.2 ± 0.6 3.9 ± 0.6
160 ± 0.4 3.2 ± 0.6 4.0 ± 0.6 4.9 ± 0.7
200 ± 0.5 3.9 ± 0.6 4.9 ± 0.7 6.2 ± 0.9
250 ± 0.5 4.9 ± 0.7 6.2 ± 0.9 7.7 ± 1.0
315 ± 0.6 6.2 ± 0.9 7.7 ± 1.0 9.7 ± 1.2
400 ± 0.7 7.7 ± 1.0 9.8 ± 1.2 12.3 ± 1.5
500 ± 0.9 9.8 ± 1.2 12.3 ± 1.5 15.3 ± 1.8
630 ± 1.1 12.3 ± 1.5 15.4 ± 1.8 19.3 ± 2.2
800 ± 1,3 15.4 ± 1.8 19.6 ± 2.2 24.5 ± 2.7
1000 ± 1.6 19.6 ± 2.2 24.5 ± 2.7 30.6 ± 3.3
1200 ± 2.0 24.5 ± 2.7 29.4 ± 5.2 36.7 ± 3,5

Note. This table lists all the parameters of pipes, ranging from a cross section of 50 mm and above, although the parameters in the residential sector are 50 mm, 110 mm and 150 mm. The actual diameter of 110 mm when buying in the store is usually considered as 100 mm - both the pipe and the price do not change.

Fittings and Reductions

Different fittings configuration
  • In order to make any joint on the pipeline, such as a tie-in, rotation, decoupling of a node or a transition to another diameter and to another plane, specialized adapters of different configuration are used. For example, a drainage pipe for a toilet bowl can be made like a plastic corner or a corrugated sleeve, but you need to somehow connect it to the riser, and this is where you need a tee (four-way - to drain to other sanitary facilities), which is embedded in the riser .
Difficult interchange in the basement
  • Approximately in the same way, a drain pipe for a bathroom or a sink is connected - the corrugated siphon sleeve fits into the socket of an angular sewer fitting or tee, where a rubber ring or cuff is used for sealing. There are also complex interchanges, especially in the basements of private houses, when there are practically no pipes in the apartment - for each bathroom, the drain is done through the floor, so below, under the basement ceiling, you need to join many pipes, and with a different slope and with a different diameter.
Rubber cuffs and o-rings
  • The rubber cuff is sometimes simply irreplaceable, for example, connecting a drain of a washing machine to a sewer pipe is carried out with the help of a 32-mm pipe that needs to be connected to a bell with a 50-mm pipe.. But such PVC fittings are very rare, so a 5032 mm rubber reduction is pushed into the cup of the bell, and this is how the problem is solved. Exactly the same situation occurs when the drain pipe is connected to the sink - it uses a reduction of 5040 mm under the corrugated siphon sleeve.
  • Rubber sealing rings are supplied by the manufacturer with plastic pipe, so you do not have to buy them separately. When docking you need to be careful not to skew, and if, after a trial drain, you notice flow through any of the joints, then do not rush to seal it with silicone or sealant. In these cases, the instruction recommends dismantling such a connection, fix the ring and reassemble it - the flow will disappear.

Helpful advice. When assembling the sewage with your own hands, sometimes there are serious difficulties - the reason for this is that the sealing ring made of rubber is too rigid. To eliminate this problem, you can smear the ring or the end of the pipe (or both) with a household liquid detergent. This will greatly facilitate the workflow connection.

Useful gadgets

Inspection well for inspection

In case of a blockage under the sink, few people will have a question about how to clean the drain pipe in the kitchen, everything is simple here - remove the siphon sleeve from the fitting and through the socket enter the sanitary cable in the side of the riser. But what to do if such an assembly was made not in a straight line, but with turns (sometimes by 90?) Or if the length of the cable is not enough?

In such cases, a plastic revision crashes on turns and on long sections (more than 4-5 meters), which can be, both indoors and outside, underground, only in the latter case do a concrete well or concrete masonry build up above it .

The revision is very similar in appearance and method of installation on the tee, only in our case the side tap here is done with a thread so that it can be tightly closed with a lid, which can be clearly seen in the top photo. To eliminate the blockage, the lid is unscrewed and a sanitary cable is inserted into the pipe in the right direction.

Plastic Diaphragm Check Valve

In order to avoid overflows, a check valve of sewage is used, which is usually installed in the private sector or on the first floors of high-rise buildings. The essence of the work of this gadget is as follows - when the water level in the sewage rises higher than the level of pipes in the apartment (house), then all this liquid will begin to pour through the toilet, bath, and sometimes the sink with a sink (the law of communicating vessels). But if you install a check valve to the living quarters, then this will not happen.

Such devices can be vertical and horizontal, with a constipation in the form of a membrane with a rubber gasket (plastic), or horizontal ball, with flange connections (made of cast iron or steel). The latter option is usually used for industrial capacity.

Conclusion

Plastic drain pipes for a roof, a premise or laying underground do not differ from each other and are made of the same material - PVC. The main difference between them lies in the size and methods of installation.
