Plastic sink - a good choice for a country house

Usually, when it comes to kitchen sinks, refined granite or enameled models immediately come to mind. But sometimes the installation of such sanitary equipment is simply impossible for several reasons. In such situations, simple plastic analogs can be a real salvation.

Overview of the main types of sinks

Most often kitchen sinks are made from such materials as:

• cast iron - metal is usually covered with a layer of enamel, it is possible to apply a pattern, so such a sink can look very elegant. Considering its durability and low cost, it could be called an ideal choice, only fragility of cast iron and enamel prevents this;
• very often for the kitchen choose metal sinks. The choice is also quite logical - stainless steel is durable enough, it is guaranteed not to rust, and low weight can only be considered an advantage for self-installation;

Note! The disadvantage of such sanitary equipment can be considered the noise in contact with a water jet - thin steel plays the role of a resonator.

• acrylic shells - some call them plastic, but this is fundamentally wrong. The fact is that in percentage terms a large proportion is accounted for by granite chips, and the resin is used exclusively as a binder. In principle, such shells have the same properties as cast iron, but they are not afraid of blows and the scratched surface can always be restored by polishing;

• natural stone - made of marble, granite, limestone. Given the cost, can be attributed to the premium category;

• plastic sinks - for the production of such models ordinary polypropylene is used, they are made of cast, so that the safety of the joints is not necessary. Typically, these models are chosen to give, do not have to regret if something happens with such a sink.

Features of plastic shells and their installation

If we compare the above types of sinks, it turns out that the plastic ones are knocked out of the general row, which is in general understandable. This should be considered when choosing, installing and operating such sinks.

What to look for when choosing

In size, such sinks are comparable to conventional ones. For example, a plastic sink 50 x 41 cm sink and 18 cm deep is comparable to an average kitchen sink. But you need to understand that polypropylene is not as durable as, for example, granite or acrylic stone.

Accordingly, it is necessary to adjust the mode of operation of such a shell:

• some impact resistance is achieved due to the elasticity of the material itself and a small shell weight. Therefore, the fall on a solid foundation most often passes without consequences; during operation, the blows are also not terrible;
• if there is a hot water supply at the dacha, then it is undesirable to expose the material to temperatures over 90? for a long time. It will not spread, but will become very soft and easily deformed even with a small load;

Note! The price of such shells is scanty (about 150 rubles for the simplest model). So it is better to buy 2-3 pieces at once, just for insurance.

• when washing plastics, you must completely abandon the abrasives and various brushes.

Note! It is allowed to use only nylon brushes and then without strong pressure on them, as well as gel means for removing dirt.

As for the assortment, there are not so many options here, for example, there are no double plastic washes at all, so one will have to get by with one. Most likely, its installation is planned either in the country or in a small country house, so when choosing, it is worth thinking about models with a water tank and a convenient tap for washing.

Such models are good in that they can perform the role of an ordinary kitchen sink, and if necessary, turn into a washbasin. In addition, in a plastic tank, you can create a supply of water (this is important if the water supply of the site has not yet been established). Installing such a "multifunctional" devices with their own hands is not difficult, because they are already sold in assembled form.

Installation of plastic washing

The construction of the sink made of plastic almost completely repeats the design of a conventional model. It also has a drain hole, to which the hydraulic lock will be connected to during installation, but there may not be any holes for the mixer. But it is hardly possible to call this a problem; if necessary, it is possible to cut an opening of the required diameter with improvised means.

Installation of plastic washing is carried out on the base. As is the case with the usual kitchen, at the cottage you need to make the most of the free space, so the lower part of the drawer can be used to store various kitchen utensils.

Plastic cabinet under the sink - almost perfect for a country house. Plastic is lightweight, durable and tough enough, and at the same time it does not react at all to water. With the assembly also no problems.

The usual cast-iron or granite sink weighs a lot, so the frame of the under-stand must be strong enough - it is made either from solid wood or from chipboard sheets. In our case, the weight of the plastic shell will be a little more than a kilogram, so that the underframe can be made not only from wood.

If, however, preference is given to plastic, then ordinary plastic panels will be used as the base material. If the apartment was recently renovated, then it is quite possible to use the trimming of this material.

Instructions for assembling the frame of the under-frame will look like this:

• 4 racks are made from the outer corner (height 85-95 cm, depending on the person's height);
• by scraps of the panels along the perimeter, the construction is connected into one whole (lower and above). Screws better to twist from the inside;
• now it remains only to achieve the desired rigidity - on the lower belt you can simply sew a few panels, a small shelf is formed.

This design does not necessarily put in the kitchen. It will be appropriate in the garden, it will be convenient to wash fruits and vegetables, and due to the fact that all the elements are made of plastic, precipitation will not be terrible.

In conclusion

Plastic sinks can not be called a full replacement for conventional kitchen models. This is rather a good option for a summer house, where not beauty, but practicality, low cost and comfort come to the fore.
