You can buy a round, oval, triangular, rectangular or square bowl of a sink separately or with a cabinet in the bathroom, perhaps in any store selling sanitary ware. The bowl in this case can be laid on or mortise, which does not affect its functionality.

Cubism is fashionable.

But it is of great importance in decorating the interior, moreover, the capacity itself can be made of different materials:

  • steel,
  • porcelain,
  • glass,
  • porcelain stoneware.

And the color of the tank can also be different. We will now talk in more detail about such bathroom furniture and in addition we will show you the video in this article.

Bowls of shells

What they are

Note. From the material of which the sink is made, depends not only its price, but also the life. In addition, the design of the bowl, too, can directly depend on what it is made of.

Ceramics (porcelain)

At first glance, porcelain is very similar to faience, but the first one:

  • more dense structure, which makes it resistant to dirt and scratches;
  • and he is not afraid of high temperatures - in practice this means that you can even pour boiling water there (just do not alternate it with cold water!).

But at the same time, porcelain has its drawbacks and, above all, it is shock sensitivity or brittleness, which makes it very careful to handle the product during transportation and installation. In addition, porcelain products of this kind have a fairly large weight and high cost.

But, faience sinks, much easier porcelain, but in terms of design, they are inferior to the latter. For example, earthenware is used to make inexpensive and simple products, and such bowls are perhaps the most common among consumers.

In order to hide the looseness of the structure and increase the strength of the vessel, it is covered with glaze (hence the striking similarity with porcelain), but in this case it is better to wash and clean without using abrasive materials.

Surface mounted composite shell

Such composite products are a mixture of granite chips with polymers (acrylic) - the result is a so-called artificial stone, which can be given any color and structure.

Composite:

  • not afraid of an active chemical environment;
  • resistant to impact, scratches (abrasives);
  • absorbs well the noise of a water jet falling on it, so the high cost of such a bowl is fully justified by its technical and design qualities.

It should be noted that such material from different manufacturers can also be called differently, so it can be porcelain, fragmented, sil- granite, tegranite, and the like, but in any case, the components of the root will be granite.

Marble for bathroom

The most expensive, but at the same time, marble is considered to be a very prestigious material for the manufacture of sinks. But it needs careful maintenance - the porous surface is contaminated with various elements over time, moreover, such material is very fragile and the instruction requires careful handling during transportation, installation and operation.

But nowadays, natural marble has developed an alternative - it is polymer concrete, which is much cheaper and practically does not differ in appearance. In addition, polymer concrete has a more dense structure, therefore, the surface pollution here is not as intense as that of a natural stone, it is not afraid of abrasive detergents.

Glass

The glass sink, as in the photo above, is also very expensive, but at the same time it is extraordinarily beautiful and gives the impression of fragility and transparency for the entire room - that is why it cannot be customized to fit any interior.

Despite the seeming fragility of the product, the bowl is actually a rather strong vessel, resistant to shocks and other mechanical damage. All this is possible thanks to special additives in production.

The disadvantages of such shells include the formation of lime scale, this is especially intense when your pipeline receives hard water.

Steel

Steel sinks are usually used for the kitchen, because they are very easy to wash and clean, and they are not afraid of temperature changes, which is inevitable when washing dishes. The sizes of such bowls are different, for example, 60x40 or 60x 100 cm - it all depends on the size of the room. Such bowls do as overhead.

Installation Methods

Note. By way of mounting the sink can be divided into two types - invoice and mortise. But, nevertheless, in the first case they are not placed directly on the table top - a tie-in is necessary anyway.

Surface mounted
  • Of course, the installation of overhead sinks is much easier than the mortise - first, very often the sink cabinet is made with a ready seat for the bowl and you don’t have to cut the tabletop at all and, secondly, even if you still have to cut the tabletop Its edges do not require filigree accuracy, since they overlap the sides of the bowl and are not visible.
Flush sink below worktop

  • Mortise shells are not easy to install, and the main difficulty is that the cut on the tabletop should be very smooth, regardless of whether the edge of the bowl is flush mounted or heated, that is, fall below the surface, as in this photo. Such installation must be carried out by a qualified technician.

Conclusion

By and large, installing a square sink with your own hands into a cabinet or tabletop is much easier than round and oval - there are no smooth bends that are difficult to observe when cutting. However, the installation of a rectangular bowl, like any other, requires a careful approach and preliminary calculations before installation.
