Shower tray support: choosing the right version and
A special stand under the shower tray is a must-have accessory for successful installation work and for the full operation of the shower cabin. What caused the need to use special mounting frames, what are the design features of these products and how are they used for their intended purpose?
The answer to these and similar questions we will give in this article.

Design features
The support under the shower tray 90x90, as well as analogs with other sizes, is an all-metal construction assembled from a profile pipe.
The assembly of the frame is carried out by the method of arc welding. To achieve a long service life, the finished metal frame is galvanized.
In the lower part of the frame there are 4 less often 6 adjustable legs with locknuts. Turning the legs around its axis, you can align the position of the bowl relative to the horizon.
Choose the appropriate option

The support is selected on the basis of the sizes and configuration of the pallet. For example, a frame for installing a bowl with an angular location is not suitable for mounting a pallet with a conventional wall or central location. This moment is especially important, because along with complete sets of shower cubicles, some acrylic trays can be purchased separately from the frame.
Having bought a stand that is unsuitable in shape or in size, it will not work to alter it to the dimensions of the bowl.
In order not to be mistaken with the choice, when buying a frame, you need to consider the following features:
- The depth of the bowl may be different, as there are modifications with high and short sides.. If the frame is lower than necessary, the bottom of the bowl will not be fixed and during operation will deform under the weight of a person.
- The shape of the perimeter of the bowl may also differ, as there are angular, separately located and wall modifications of the bowl.. If the shape of the stand is chosen incorrectly, the bowl will not fit in the stand or will not be securely fixed in its place.
- Dimensions of the sides must be taken into account, since too large frame will cause the pallet to swing during operation.
- The width of the side skirt also affects the selection of the frame. If the height of the frame is large, there will be a gap between the floor and the side skirt that cannot be removed by twisting the legs.
- The location of the nuts under the studs on the back of the bowl may be non-standard. Therefore, buying a frame separately from the bowl, you need to make sure that the grooves on the pallet correspond to the location of the holes in the metallographic profile through which the studs will pass.
Important: Once again, we note that the metal stand most often comes complete with a shower. Therefore, the above recommendations on the selection are relevant in the event that the cab frame with supports is not available.
Mounting the bowl to the frame

So, with what is a stand under the shower and how to choose it, we decided, it remains to find out how to install the bowl on the metal frame.
Installation instructions are simple and consist of the following steps:
- Unpack the frame and pallet.
- We try on an acrylic bowl and determine its position in the room.
- Turn the bowl upside down and lay it on the floor.
Important: glossy acrylic surface is easily scratched, so turning the bowl, do not forget to lay a soft cloth on the floor.
- We attach the frame with the expectation that he took his place.
- Insert the studs into the special holes in the frame so that they fall into the nuts that are fused into the bowl.
- We enrich the studs and twist all the way.
- From the free end to the stud we dress the washer and twist the locking nut, which presses the bowl to the frame.
- Next, we insert into the drill a drill for metal with a diameter of 1 mm and drill holes in the frame for screws with a step of 20 cm from each other.
- With the help of a screwdriver, screw the screws into the pre-drilled holes so that they enter the acrylic.
Tip: We select the screws so that they can go through the frame and enter the acrylic about 3 mm. Too long screws can not be used, since they can pass not only through the metal frame, but also through the pan and be outside.
- Further, to the sides of the bowl by means of less long screws, fasten brackets for mounting the side skirt.

- At the free end of the pre-screwed studs we wear a bracket that secures the bottom of the side skirt.
- Then we twist a lock nut and an adjustable support on the end of the stud.
- Grabbing the adjustable supports, carefully turn over the assembled structure and set it to the desired location.
- We twist to the end all the adjustable supports.
- Using the water level, we determine those areas where the pallet is located above the horizon.
- On the other side, where the level is higher than necessary, the adjustable support is gradually twisted until the pan is level.
- Check the position of the bowl level, if everything is in order, each adjustable support tighten the locknut.

- Upon completion of the work done, you can proceed to the installation of the drain and the installation of a shower cabin.
Frame making

If desired, the steel frame under the shower can be made by hand. This will require steel pipes 3 * 3 cm with a metal thickness of 1 mm.
The pipes are cut into pieces of such length that a rectangle repeats, repeating the perimeter of the bowl. Then we cut another similar rectangle and side lintels, equal to the height of the pallet and side skirt.
All prepared parts are welded into a single structure to form a parallelepiped. In the event that the pallet is side, the upper parts of the frame will not look like rectangles, but as triangles. Next in the frame are drilled holes for studs.
Conclusion
Now we know what the steel frame is for the installation of the acrylic tray and how it is installed. Despite the fact that the price of this design is low, it can be made by hand using simple tools.
