Ventilation of the dwelling is an important component of a comfortable microclimate, problems with the intake of fresh air are the main cause of dampness in the house. In the warm season, the problem can be solved relatively easily - just open the windows, but it is much more convenient to install a special plastic construction. This will allow you to smoothly regulate the flow of fresh air at any time of the year.

What is the vent valve for?

In the past, designers relied on fresh air due to leaking windows. With the advent of modern plastic windows, this source of freshness has been completely blocked. That is, the only ventilation option is the opening of windows, with the exception of a window with ventilation valves, because only this design will provide ventilation even in the closed state (see also the article Ventilation in the garage - views and device).

Installation on the window is not the only option for placement of ventilation, in the general case one of the following types can be used:

• wall construction - a through hole is drilled in the wall. The exit part is covered with a grille, and various filters and protective structures can be placed inside the channel. Quite easy to install, the regulation range allows you to completely block the flow of air, so that problems will not arise even in winter time;

• fresh air ventilation valve under the window sill - the same wall, but installed above the heating radiator under the window sill;

Note! Ventilation can also be located behind a heating radiator, the advantage of such an arrangement is especially noticeable in winter. Cold air will not immediately enter the room, but first rises along the radiator and warms to room temperature.

• a special valve for a plastic window - in principle, the window unit can be immediately sold with an already installed structure, but it is not difficult to install it yourself.

Installation and valve selection from A to Z

Despite the fact that manufacturers categorically do not advise performing the installation themselves, there is nothing complicated in this and simple structures (for example, a slit type) can be installed by yourself. Before this, it is useful to get acquainted with the types of valves.

Subtleties of choice

As for wall constructions, everything is more or less clear with them. Much more problems for a layman will arise when selecting the type of ventilation for a plastic window.

In the general case, the inlet ventilation valves for PVC windows can be divided into the following types:

• invoices - maximum (even excess) performance. In addition, they have a high cost of installation work. The main disadvantage is that they can be installed only when installing a new glass unit; installation is not possible on an already installed window.

Note! If, nevertheless, the choice fell on this type, then it is necessary to take into account the fact that noise reduction indicators will seriously decrease.

• faltsevy - PVC windows with ventilation valves of this type are often installed in private houses and apartments. There are many modifications of such structures, but in general, the principle of operation can be characterized as follows: air enters from the street through a slot in the frame;

Note! This type of ventilation devices is often equipped with humidity sensors, attention should be paid to those proposals in which the sensor is removed from the ventilation hole. This ensures the most accurate operation of the inlet ventilation.

• slotted - such a ventilation valve on plastic windows can be installed even by a person who did not hold a hammer in his hands in life. To install, just remove the part of the seal. More installation technology is discussed below.

If the main criterion to choose the simplicity of the work, the leader can be considered a slit type. Such ventilation valves for plastic windows work due to the fact that the standard sealer is replaced with a narrower one, that is, a gap is formed through which fresh air enters the room.

Key Performance Indicators

This is also a fairly important element when choosing.

It is necessary to take into account such parameters as:

• price - ideally, it should not exceed several thousand rubles;
• sound insulation - it should be approximately equal to the sound insulation of the window. You can navigate to the values ​​of 30 - 35 dB;
• adjustment method - in principle, all ventilation devices should be equipped with a manual or even automatic adjustment system. But in the ultrabudgetary proposals such an option may not be;
• installation method - you can immediately discard those options that require the replacement or dismantling of the old window unit. It will cost too much.

Mounting technology

In terms of speed of work and simplicity of technology, a simple slit valve can be considered the best choice. For its installation it is not necessary to dismantle the window block, and all that is needed is to cut a small part of the insulation.

Such ventilating valves on plastic windows are installed directly on the sash, thanks to which the frame remains intact. As for the productivity of such a solution, it can provide fresh air to the room within 6.0 m³ at one o'clock. This is enough for any apartment.

To install in addition to the valve itself, you will need a conventional screwdriver, a sharp knife and a ruler.

Instructions for the execution of work will look like this:

• First you need to remove a piece of insulation on the frame. Marking is performed in order to determine where the valve will be located, then cuts are made at the depth on the seal, and it is removed. In its place is immediately glued sealing material, which comes in the kit;

• the inlet ventilation valve for plastic windows will be installed on the frame, so the removal of standard sealing material must be repeated for the frame;

Note! The valve must not be displaced relative to the seal glued to the window frame. Otherwise, its performance will suffer.

• small plastic dowels are installed to which the valve for ventilation of plastic windows will be attached. Since the length of the standard design is 350 mm, then the first dowel is installed along the edges and another 1 in the center of the free space;
• after that, a plastic bar is attached to the sash with screws.

Note! Before installation, remove the protective factory film from the sealing strip on the plastic.

• to complete the installation, it remains only to insert the seal from the kit in place of the removed material on the sash. It is divided into 2 pieces with a length of 160 mm each.

At this installation can be considered complete, you only need to check whether the work performed did not affect the functionality of the window unit. It should open / close without problems and be transferred to the airing mode.

In terms of functionality, a window with ventilation installed by itself is no different from a window with a ventilation valve installed at the factory. And the cost is much cheaper.

The ventilation is adjusted automatically by moving the lever to the left and right. In the leftmost position - the ventilation gap is completely closed, in the right - fully open.

Note! Any intake ventilation will work efficiently only if the exhaust ventilation system works without problems.

Forced ventilation allows you to forget about the problem of airing the room. Even the simplest design will provide a stable microclimate in the house at any time of the year.
