Connecting the pump to the well: features and stages of work
Connecting a well pump is one of the most important and crucial stages in the construction of an autonomous water supply system. From the correct connection and start of pumping equipment will depend on the service life and normal operation of the system.
We will tell you how to connect the pump to the well with your own hands.
Installation of pumping equipment
Surface
Note! Installed on the surface of the pumping equipment allows you to pump out water from a small depth - no more than 8 - 9 meters. This is due to the force of atmospheric pressure, which is not able to raise the column above, and if mercury is used instead of water, then the height of the column will be 760 mm, which is known as normal atmospheric pressure.
Therefore, this equipment is used for servicing Abyssinian wells and shallow wells, as well as for pumping water from basements, irrigation and other works..
Surface pumps most often represent stations that include directly a pump with an electric motor, a hydraulic storage tank, an automatic start-up and shut-down system, a pressure relay and a pressure gauge.
It is easy to assemble the station itself; for this, it is enough to carefully read the manufacturer's instructions and perform simple manipulations, connecting the parts together.
A much more crucial task is to connect the surface pump to the well and start it.
For convenience, our specialists have compiled a step-by-step instruction:
- In the place where the pumping station will stand, a reliable pedestal or fixing armature should be made, to which the device frame should be rigidly attached, on which the mounting holes or legs should be present. To reduce vibration and noise under the unit is better to put a rubber mat;
- We cut off a piece of PND-pipe of the required length, and from one of the ends we mount on it a brass or plastic coupling with an internal thread, a nipple and a check valve. Also, a coarse screen will not be superfluous;
- We also supply the other end of the pipe with a coupling and connect it to the inlet of our station. Most often such holes are provided with an internal thread, which should be sealed with a FUM tape or a flax gasket. If it is necessary (for ejector models) we mount the recirculation system hose;
- Next, connect the outlet of the pump to the water pipes through the ball valves. This can be one or more layouts, so you may need a single knee or tee. For work we use only high-quality brass or plastic fittings and couplings;
- We plug the plug into a 220 V / 50 Hz power outlet;
- In a special hole on the station body (usually in the area of the pump) fill the water according to the manufacturer's recommendations;
- We make the launch of the device and wait until the automatic shutdown system works. After that, we check the pressure in the accumulator tank on the pressure gauge and compare it with the passport data. If the values do not match, adjust the pressure switch using special screws in its mechanism;
- When the tank is full, we open the taps and check the pressure and the general work of the plumbing and plumbing.
Note! Before you connect the surface pump to the well, make sure that the total length of the vertical and horizontal flow pipe does not exceed the maximum allowable values specified in the passport to the device.
Submersible
For pumping water from deep wells, submersible devices are used that are not limited by the height of the water column and the force of atmospheric pressure..
Their installation differs from the installation of surface stations:
- First of all, a water-lifting pipe made of low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE) is connected to the pump. For this end, a brass coupling is attached to its end, on which a check valve is wound. Then take the nipple with a double external thread and with its help connect the valve with the inlet of the pump;
- Next, to the lifting pipe with electrical clips or electrical tape attach the power cable of the device every three meters;
- Included with the pump is usually a safety cable made of nylon or other material. The cable must be threaded into the mounting ears on the unit body and secured with two (!) Clips;
- Then the pump, along with the pipe, cable and cable, is gently lowered into the casing of the well, while trying not to cling to the pipe wall. For insurance on the body of the device can wear a rubber ring. The depth of immersion is usually taken so that the apparatus is 2 to 3 meters below the dynamic water level, but one and a half meters above the bottom of the face;
- The pipe is threaded into the hole on the top of the well and fixed with clamps. There is also a mount for the safety cable - we attach the cable to this mount;
- We close the lid of the wellhead, the outgoing cable through the sealed lead-in (usually included) is connected to the electrical grid. We make a test start-up of the pump, if the water does not go, we draw in air with a mouth from the pipe so that the check valve will work;
- After a successful launch, we connect the water-lifting pipe to the water supply system.
Note! If the pump is equipped with an internal check valve, it should still be duplicated by an external metal device, since the internal valves are unreliable.
Conclusion
The connection and start-up of pumping equipment is a very important and crucial task, the correct operation of which depends on the normal operation of the system, the price of which is very high. Nevertheless, it is possible to cope with this work independently, simply by performing step by step according to our leadership. To see the process directly, you can view the video in this article.
