Water supply

If you have your own land plot, plot or even a courtyard, on which you are only planning or have already built a house, then it is extremely important to ensure the water supply of this territory. Because without water to lead a full life and maintenance of the site is impossible. And one of the most popular and reasonable options is punching your own well.

Of course, do-it-yourself well drilling with water will provide your home, but the task is really not easy. And not the most pleasant, but incredibly profitable. Because it pays off pretty quickly.

This article provides instructions on how to punch a well with your own hands with minimal financial and time costs, as well as make the necessary fixtures.

Preparatory stage - we are looking for water

First of all, it is necessary to determine at what depth the water lies in the area where you are going to drill.

There are two ways to find out such information:

  • neighbors who have equipped such a well;
  • in the relevant government agency operating in the area.
Two people are enough for work

If the plant lies at a depth of up to twenty meters, then in this case, all the work can be done independently and manually.

But if it is deeper or the soil itself has solid layers, rock, then it is recommended:

  • invite specialists to do the work;
  • use special equipment, for example, punching a hole with a motor-drill.

Council It is not necessary to buy an automated installation. You can rent it. If you decide to buy it, then you should not “preserve” the equipment later - rent it out and make money on it.

Use of the motor-drill

The second point to which attention should be paid during the preparatory work is to find out what the diameter of the well should be:

  • the optimal diameter of the pipe for water supply is from ten to twelve centimeters;
  • therefore, the drill should be about fifteen centimeters in diameter.

Council If you have lower and higher points in the area, then in this case it is better to choose the drilling site in the lowest place, but only if there are no any pollutants of soil and groundwater. If such places are contaminated, then be prepared to drill an artesian well.

Site preparation

Before you start work, it is recommended to perform the following steps to help you facilitate the further process:

  • prepare a pit of one and a half meters and a half;
  • depth - up to one and a half meters;
  • prevent possible crumbling of the walls of the hole, overlaid them with boards or any other durable plates.

Such precautions are necessary in order to prevent possible shedding of the top layer of the earth during drilling operations.

Making tripods

If you have decided on the place of work, as well as you know that the water lies at an insignificant depth, then in this case you can get to the water yourself. To do this you need to make a drill for drilling your own hands. Its price will end up low.

Tripod creation example

First of all, take care of the tripod. Such tools for drilling wells with their own hands have always been popular and attract with their efficiency.

To make a tripod, you will need the following materials and spare parts:

  • three wooden beams with a cross section of 15 to 25 centimeters;
  • timber can be replaced with a metal pipe with the same cross section or slightly thinner;
  • the length of the timber or pipe should be from four to five meters.
How is the tripod used

The process of making a tripod includes the following steps:

  • we lay the bars on the ground in the form of a triangle;
  • drill through holes;
  • the diameter of the holes must be such that it can be inserted into a metal tube or other product for fasteners;
  • we place a tube or other product so that the tripod is securely fixed and its “legs” do not disperse;
  • in the upper part fasten winch;
  • We attach the drill to the winch cable and we can start drilling.

Council If you have a mechanical winch, then at the top of the tripod it is recommended to fix a special block along which the cable will slide. If the winch is electric, then it should be mounted directly at the very top of the tripod, which will significantly lengthen the cable.

Drilling features

Most often, when self-drilling technology is used so-called auger drilling.

The process itself provides the following sequence of actions:

  • two people take the handle of the drill and turn it clockwise until it completely enters the ground;
  • after that, the drill is removed from the ground by means of a winch;
  • earth and sand are removed from the drill;
  • the drill is screwed into the ground again and so on until the well is drilled to the water.

Council To extend the drill post, special metal rods are used.

Manual drill

After you reach the water, you should thoroughly clean the well from the shedding of the soil. To do this, you should use a sink that will allow you to even out the walls of the well. The soil is collected in the shell through a special piston. The cleaning process itself is carried out by the so-called shock-cable method.

The cleaning of the well should be carried out to the very bottom, which should subsequently be filled with fine gravel. The thickness of such a backfill should reach from twenty to thirty centimeters. Only then can the pipe be lowered, at the end of which a fine-mesh type filter must be worn.

Experts recommend using two types of pipes:

  • either metal-plastic;
  • either stainless steel.

What should be the filter for the pipe

In principle, the filter can be easily made by yourself.

For this you need:

  • at the bottom of the pipe (the last meter) at a distance of about five centimeters from each other, holes with a diameter of about five millimeters are drilled over the entire area of the pipe;
  • a net is put on the end of the pipe - even if it is shallow, it is better to wind several layers;
  • the net is fastened with a yoke.

After that, you can lower the pipes, one after another, sequentially fixing them.

Drilling with the gradual lowering of pipes

There is one more demanded method of drilling, which implies a gradual lowering of casing.

Lowering the pipe into the well

The essence of the method is as follows:

  • the diameter of the pipe, therefore, the well should be slightly larger than indicated above;
  • this is necessary so that the drill can move freely in the pipe;
  • each time after you get the drill for cleaning, the pipe is gradually driven into the ground to the depth that the drill has reached.

After you reach the water, it is recommended to deepen the pipe a little more, but not completely, otherwise you will simply block the free flow of water.

Now clean the pipe and immerse in it a filter whose diameter will be a couple of millimeters smaller than the internal diameter of the pipe. You can also use a filter with holes, as described above.

Preparation for water supply

Basically, you are already ready to receive water. However, after equipping the well and before installing the strainer, it is recommended to wait an hour, because pump out the water with a pump and establish its true level of contamination.

It is necessary to do this procedure hourly, until the water is maximally clean.

Council Even if you achieve maximum purity and clarity, it is recommended to determine whether it contains additives that are dangerous to health, before using liquid for drinking and cooking. You may need to use another filter, finer cleaning.

After another day, you should perform a water depth check. Of course, everything depends directly on the exact area in which the well has been penetrated, but usually the depth should reach several meters.

Successful drilling result

The space between the pipes and the ground is recommended to be poured with a cement-sand mortar to prevent the penetration of melt water and rain, which can cause water pollution.

In conclusion

Such is the sequence of works. That is, with a certain diligence and desire, you can easily pierce a well yourself, without spending money on inviting employees.
