Do-it-yourself well sewer well
As you know, water is an important aspect of a comfortable stay in the house or in the country. But without an effective waste system it is impossible to fully use water. That is why we will in the most detailed way consider the question of how to make a sewer well with our own hands.
Many people think that it is very difficult to make this type of work independently. In fact, everything is quite simple, but all operations are laborious due to the large amount of earthworks. But if you have the desire and, preferably, assistants, all the work will take 1-2 days.

Preparatory activities

At this stage, work is primarily carried out to determine the optimal location and design features:
- In order not to be mistaken with the location, it is necessary to know the requirements set forth in SNiP 2.04.03-85. This regulatory document governs all issues related to external sewage networks and structures, and you should definitely study it if you make a well for sewage with your own hands.
- So, the minimum distance from the house should be at least 3 meters, optimally - 5 meters. If there is a well on the plot, remember that you can dispose of sewage facilities no closer than 30 meters from the source, otherwise there is a great risk of contamination of drinking water.
- If you have a system of two or more wells, remember that the distance between them should not exceed a value of 12 meters.
- Another important note is that when turning the sewer pipes a rotary well is necessarily arranged, otherwise there will be a high probability of blockage in this place.
- A factor that many do not take into account, but which is very important - the convenience of approaching pumping equipment. Otherwise, your lawn or vegetable garden at least once a year will be spoiled by the wheels of equipment, which, you see, is completely undesirable.
- The calculation of the volume of the system is quite simple: as a rule, there is about 150 liters per day per person, add to this the drains from household appliances that consume water. So, for a family of 4 people, the daily value is 700-800 liters. This figure is multiplied by 3 - the resulting value is the required volume of sewage, in our case it is about 2500 liters.
Next is to determine the design of the structure. If the runoff volume exceeds 1 m3 per day, it is necessary to install a closed system, since there is a high risk of pollution of groundwater, which is very undesirable. Nowadays, there are progressive cleaning systems that allow to clean the drains with the help of bacteria, but they are not applicable in cases when waste is merged into the system with chemical and detergent substances.
Inspection and turning wells may be small, with the bottom in them must be concreted. These structures carry out functions of control of the system and serve as a kind of insurance in case of blockages.
Note! Remember that sewers should not be tightly closed, and this can cause an unpleasant smell. This also should not be forgotten when choosing the location of the object.

Installation work
The construction of a sewer well can consist either of a single section or of an entire system.. As noted above, it depends on the amount of waste per day. All events are divided into several stages.
Transportation and settlement
By the time you start work, you must have all the necessary components:
- Concrete barrels are either plastic or fiberglass containers.
- Sewer pipes and accessories to them.
- Insulation for wells and pipes (if necessary).
The number of elements is calculated on the basis of the characteristics of your system, while it makes sense to consult with professionals, since the lack of elements is just as undesirable as an excess - you can hardly return them to the seller.
If you will use a closed system and purchase a ready septic tank, you should read the customer reviews on a particular model of the cleaning system. (See also the article Plastic sewer wells: how to install yourself.)

Excavation
No instruction is needed here - it is necessary to dig one or more trenches according to the size of the sewer structure. For these works, you can attract earthmoving equipment, but, in extreme cases, you can handle yourself, the main thing is to invite enough assistants.
Also do not forget about the trenches under the pipe. Their depth should be below the level of soil freezing in your region during the coldest period of the year. If the pipe is located higher, it must be insulated with a special foam material that will protect the system. And do not forget that the pipes should lie with a slope of approximately 3 degrees or 1-2 centimeters per 1 linear meter.

If the system is closed, rubble is poured in a layer of about 40 centimeters, and a concrete screed is placed on top. It is also better to arrange a pillow of gravel or rubble and under the pipes.
The device of a septic tank of concrete rings
This is currently the most popular construction of sewer wells due to several factors:
- Low system cost - rings can be purchased everywhere at a reasonable price. They will be delivered to your site by special transport. But it should be remembered that the mass of such structures is large enough, so it is better to attract equipment for laying the elements into the ground.
- Simplicity of the device and high efficiency of the system. High-tech cleaning systems are much more difficult to install and more demanding to use. In addition, their service can result in impressive amounts.
- The service life of concrete wells is several decades, and with timely service even more.

If you have one well, then two concrete rings are usually used, the bottom of which should be with holes over the entire area, if there are no ready-made options, drill them (diameter should be 5-6 cm in 10 cm increments).
Further, the entire barrel is filled with coarse grained washed gravel both from the inside and outside at a distance of 1 meter from the ring. For the most efficient operation, the sewage ring is cleaned once a year, and the drainage ring is cleaned once every 3 years, and the gravel must be replaced. (See also the article Filtering well: features.)
Tip! Do not forget about the weatherization of the upper ring, this will prevent the adverse effects of low temperatures on the concrete and prolong its service life.
Conclusion
It is rather simple to equip a sewer well with the hands. The main thing is to adhere to all requirements of building codes and carry out work in the manner required by technology. The video in this article will help to better understand some of the features of the system.
