How do you repair wells
Water wells are increasingly becoming a source of autonomous water supply in country houses, and they are especially relevant in country houses where there is no centralized water supply system. However, despite the reliability of this solution, for various reasons, it is necessary to perform underground repair of wells.
Moreover, if timely measures are taken to eliminate the fault, then most often, the well can be saved from serious damage and the need to look for a new source of water.

Next, we consider what malfunctions can occur and how to repair the well with your own hands.
Possible failures and their causes
Over time, the state of the well may not change for the better, until the complete failure.
However, there are not so many reasons for this, we give the most common of them:
- Change in aquifer position;
- Silting;
- Errors made during installation and design of the device;
- Depreciation of equipment;
- Pump breakage;
- Pipe breakage;
- Depressurization of some elements of the aquifer system, etc.
Precursors well failure
Wells, as a rule, do not fail suddenly.
This process is accompanied by a number of characteristic signs that home owners need to pay attention to:
- A noticeable decrease in the amount of water, i.e. reduced debit;
- The appearance of undesirable impurities in the water;
- Blurred water.
If these symptoms occur after a long time after the start of water extraction, then the source is most likely to silt. In this case, you must immediately clean the well, otherwise the equipment will break.
Tip! Before you start the repair, you need to evaluate the costs. It is possible that drilling and construction of a new water source will be cheaper than restoring an old one.

How to determine the cause of failure
To avoid unnecessary costs, you need to correctly perform the diagnosis:
- If there is no water completely in the whole system, then most likely the automatic control unit or pump has failed.
- If the system has a bad pressure, then the reason is usually hidden in the water distribution equipment. It is necessary to make sure that the hydraulic tank is tight, and also to check the pipeline joints, it is possible that there will be leaks there.
- If there are no problems in the water distribution equipment, then attention should be paid to the state of the well. It is necessary to inspect the pit and the caisson - it should not accumulate ice in the winter or water at a positive temperature.
- A serious problem may indicate a curvature of the casing.
If no problems were found at this stage, then further diagnostics can be performed according to the condition of the incoming water:
- If pure water comes in, but in small quantities, then, most likely, you need to clean the filter.
- Impurities of silt or sand usually indicate the destruction of the filter and the silting up of the production string.

Well cleaning
If the depth of the aquifer is small, then you can perform maintenance and repair of the well yourself. True, the elimination of such a problem as silting can cause some difficulties. Therefore, further consider the process in detail.

To pump out the sand, you need a special device - a pit for the well. You can make it yourself.
The slug is a pipe with a check valve with a diameter slightly less than casing. At the bottom of the device should be located baking powder.
Instructions for cleaning the well with the sludge looks like this:
- The fixture sinks to the bottom.
- Then several times it rises half a meter and rushes down. As a result, the pipe is filled with sand.
- Then the bowl should be gently lifted to the surface.
- The procedure should be repeated until the maximum amount of sand is removed to the surface.
- Then the well should be pumped with a conventional pump, until clean water flows.
Note! The shell must have a reliable and firmly attached cable so that the device does not break off into the well.

Repair of artesian well
Repair of artillery wells is a high-tech process, which specialists must deal with. This is due to the great depth of the aquifer.
There are several methods for performing claying, however, for the use of any of them, special equipment for well repair is required:
- Hydraulic - is the most common method, which is to remove sediments that prevent the flow of water into the well. It consists in the intensive movement of water in the filter space and the filter itself with the help of a water-jet, piston or hydraulic shocks.
- Pulse – based on the creation of an instantaneous pressure drop in the bottomhole zone and inside the filter.
- Vibration - is performed using a special vibration unit. Due to the vibration, the kolmat rocks are destroyed.
- Reagent - is to use special reagents, which react with the co-cloth, clean the formation cracks, filter holes and spraying pores.

Depending on the type of work, depends on the price of the services of specialists. It should also be borne in mind when cleaning the well by mechanical methods, there is a chance of damaging the filter. Reagents for some time worsen the quality of drinking water.
Conclusion
It is possible to perform well repair at the dacha independently, unless it is a question of artesian depth. Otherwise, it is necessary to seek help from specialists. But, regardless of the type of well, it is much easier to maintain its condition at the proper level than it will perform a major overhaul, after a complete system outage.
