How is the well done on the sand

Water supply

Any manor, regardless of whether it is a residential house or a summer cottage, must be provided with water. And if there is no centralized water supply system in the village, or it is not able to provide the site with the necessary amount of water, then the well is an excellent solution. Of course, an artesian well cannot be drilled on its own, but a well on the sand is quite simple with your own hands.

There are several drilling options that are not complex in execution and do not require the use of expensive equipment and some excessive effort. Next we look at each of them.

Sand drilling

Water extraction options

First of all, you should decide which of the water extraction options in your case will be optimal - a well, a well made on sand or limestone..

Each of these options has its own characteristics:

  • With a good spring, the well can quickly fill up and hold up to two cubes of water.
  • The filter sand well is a pipe submerged to a depth of about 20-30 meters. At the end of this pipe is fixed filter mesh. As a rule, the life of the well on the sand is from five to fifteen years.
  • The filterless artesian well allows extracting water from porous limestone formations. Its depth can be from 20 to 100 meters or more. Its features include a long service life, which is about fifty years, as well as a large debit (water return), which is sometimes sufficient to supply several houses with water.

Depth determination

If you need to provide water for a country house, then a well on the sand will be quite enough. Immediately it should be said that it is impossible to determine the exact depth of the aquifer. However, you can first ask about this indicator among your neighbors; most likely, the depth of the groundwater in your area is about the same.

However, when purchasing casing pipes, it should be taken into account that the soil layers do not lie evenly. Therefore, they should be purchased with a certain margin.

Sand Well Design

Necessary equipment

To do the work yourself, you need to prepare the following equipment and materials:

  • Boer;
  • Rods;
  • Drill rig;
  • Winch;
  • Casing.

Drilling tower will be needed for deep aquifers. It is used to lift and dive the drill with rods. If the estimated depth is not large, then it is possible to do without the use of the tower, taking the drill string manually.

Drill rods are not difficult to do on their own, connecting them to each other with a thread or dowels. The lower bar is equipped with a drill, which can be made from three-millimeter steel.

Note! The edges of the removable nozzles should hit the ground when rotated clockwise.

Auger device

Drilling

Step-by-step instructions for performing such drilling are as follows:

  • First of all, a tower is installed above the well drilling site. Its height should be greater than the height of the rod, which will facilitate pulling the drill to the surface.
  • Then it is necessary to dig up the guide recess on two spade bayonets.
  • Further the drill is put in deepening and the process of drilling begins. At first, it is quite possible for one person to make turns, but the deeper the drill sinks, the more difficult it will be to rotate. Therefore, you need the help of another person. To facilitate the task, you can soak the ground with water.
  • After each depression for half a meter, the drilling structure must be pulled out in order to free it from the ground. Since this operation takes a lot of time, you should try to get as much soil as possible to the surface. Then the cycle repeats again.
  • When the drill handle reaches the ground level, the structure should be increased by an additional rod.
  • If drilling occurs on loose soils, then it is necessary to install casing in the well, which will not allow the soil to fall and the well to collapse.
  • Drilling is done before entering the aquifer, which can be determined by the condition of the soil being removed. Then the drill should pass through it and rest against the next impermeable layer. This will ensure maximum water flow.
  • To pump out dirty water, you must use a manual or submersible pump. As a rule, the well is washed after several buckets of dirty liquid, after which clean clear water appears. If this does not happen, you need to deepen the well for another meter or two.

Tip! If the auger fails to reach the first time, it must be turned counterclockwise, and then try again.

Drilling by the shock cable way

The device wells on the sand can be performed in another, shock-cable method. Its principle is based on the fact that the ground is broken with the help of a driving glass - this is a heavy projectile that falls from the height of the tower.

Drill rig with projectile

Equipment

To perform the work, you will need a drilling rig, which you can do yourself, as well as tools for extracting soil from the well and using the shock cable method.

Outwardly, the tower resembles an ordinary tripod, which can be made from steel pipes or even from logs. The size of the structure is chosen in accordance with the dimensions of the downhole tool. The optimum ratio of the height of the tower - the structure exceeds the length of the projectile by one and a half meters.

To carry out the projectile, you can use a steel pipe equipped with a cutting device at the end. The cutting edge should resemble half of the auger turn.

Extraction of soil to the surface

Half a meter from the edge in the pipe should be located hole for the extraction of soil from the glass. It is necessary to securely attach the cable to the top of the projectile.

Well drilling

The principle of drilling is extremely simple:

  • The shell rises and rushes down.
  • After every half meter deep, it is necessary to free the glass from the ground.
  • The operation is repeated until the well reaches the required depth.

Clump

The dug well must be strengthened with casing pipes, which are galvanized, asbestos-cement or plastic.

“Cessation” is needed for several reasons:

  • It prevents the shedding of the walls of the well.
  • Eliminates clogged wells during operation.
  • Allows you to isolate the upper aquifers.

Note! At the bottom of the well, it is necessary to lower the pipe with the filter, which is a fine mesh.

Conclusion

Performing a sand well is a fairly long and laborious work, however, by doing it yourself, you can save a significant amount of money, since the price of such services is quite high. The only thing is that it is necessary to strictly adhere to the technology so that the result of this operation is really clean water that comes in the required volume.
