How to clean the boiler from scale: running water, cleaning
The durability of an electric boiler depends largely on caring for it. In particular, from time to time it must be cleaned of scale, and it is not difficult to do it, you just need to get acquainted with some of the nuances of the work. Therefore, in this article I will tell you how to clean the boiler from scale in the home.

The procedure for cleaning the boiler
First of all, I note that it is necessary to clean the boiler at least once a year. If the water flows hard, then this operation should be done more often.
Many owners of water heaters neglect this requirement, which, in the end, leads to device breakdowns, entailing additional financial costs. Therefore, it is better to take the time and effort to complete this procedure in a timely manner.
The cleaning process is generally quite simple, and includes several steps:

Below I will tell you how to do this work with your own hands at each of the stages.
Water descent
If the water heater is connected to the system correctly, then there will be no problems with water drainage. The work algorithm in this case is as follows:
- first disconnect the device from electricity, then turn off the total water supply;
- then turn off the cold water tap near the boiler and open the hot water in the nearest mixer. After that, wait until the water runs out. As a rule, through the hot faucet it flows down by 7-10 percent;

- then connect the tube to the drain fitting and direct it to the nearest sanitary fixture - sink or bath;
- Now open the drain valve and wait until the water is completely drained from the tank..

If the tank does not have either a choke or a drain valve, then the work must be carried out in the following sequence:
- wait until the water in the boiler has cooled;
- then disconnect the hot water pipe from the tank;
- then slowly unscrew the relief valve. Water will begin to flow out of the nozzle when air enters the tank through the valve.
Disassembly of the boiler
As mentioned above, cleaning the boiler from scale requires its disassembly and dismantling of heating elements.
This procedure is carried out in the following sequence:
- First of all, remove the decorative cover that covers the contacts from the bottom and the mounting of the heating element. As a rule, the cover is mounted on several screws;

- After dismantling the cover, you will see the contacts. In order not to redraw them, take a few photos from different angles;
- then unplug the wires to access the thermostat;

- most often the thermostat is simply pulled out of the TENA case. However, in some models, the thermostat is removed along with the heating element;

- Now unscrew the nuts or the heater itself, depending on the boiler model, and remove it from the tank.
Note! Remove the heater carefully so as not to damage it. The fact is that accumulated scale often does not allow to cope with this procedure easily.
Now that the heater has been dismantled, you can proceed to descaling the surfaces.
Boiler cleaning
So, with the disassembly of the device, we figured out, now I will tell you how to clean the boiler from the scale. In fact, everything is very simple. Since most of the scale accumulates on the heating elements, the tank itself is usually sufficient to rinse with water.
To do this, simply turn on the water supply, having previously placed the bucket under the water heater. At the same time, the existing dirt will drain into the bucket along with the water. If the tank status is running, try to get rid of scale manually.
In the process of cleaning the tank, do not use any abrasive substances in order not to damage the enamel. If mechanical cleaning did not help, the tank should be cleaned using chemical agents. Below we take a closer look at what and how to wash the boiler from scale.

As for the heater, where the bulk of the scale accumulates, it must be mechanically cleaned, for example, with a knife. The main thing is to do the work carefully so as not to damage the part.
When you clean the heater as much as possible, immerse it in a solution of citric acid - 2 bags of acid per 2 liters of water. To do this, you can use a plastic bottle with a cropped neck.

After a day, the heating element will look like new. After that you can assemble the boiler in the reverse order.
Boiler washing with chemicals
There are cases when, for various reasons, it is not possible to disassemble the boiler. For example, if you can not pull the heater. In this case, you should resort to chemical cleaning.
A folk remedy is the citric acid solution mentioned above. The only concentration must be increased several times. Also on sale there is a specialized household chemicals for washing the boiler, for example, the means Master Boiler, the price of which is about 1,300 rubles per bottle.

The instructions for flushing the boiler are quite simple:
- first of all, turn off the boiler from electricity;
- turn off the water supply and open the hot tap of the nearest mixer;
- then through the fitting, connecting the hose to it, flush about a third of the water from the tank;
- then close the hot water tap of the mixer;
- further through the same hose, fill the boiler cleaning agent. To do this, lift the end of the hose above the level of the boiler and use a watering can;
- now you need to open the cold water supply and connect the boiler to the electricity so that it is well heated;
- after five to six hours, all the water needs to be updated; to do this, open the hot water tap, without turning off the cold water.
This completes the flushing process. It should be noted that this procedure can be performed only if the device is properly connected. If the drain fitting is not in the system, install it according to the scheme below.

Tip! To be less likely to engage in cleaning and flushing the device, install a special filter for the boiler from the scale before entering. For these purposes, you can use the same filter as for a washing machine, which softens the water.

Here, in fact, all the nuances of cleaning the boiler, which I wanted to share with you.
Conclusion
The process of cleaning and flushing the electric boiler is generally quite simple, so you can do it yourself. The only work necessary to carry out carefully, so as not to damage the device, especially in the process of disassembly. As for flushing, it is even easier to perform it, but for this it is necessary to properly tank the strapping.
