How to clean the well: an overview of ways and important

Water supply

If you use your own water at your site, and not the central water supply system, then sooner or later you will surely think about how to clean the well with your own hands. The point is, of course, quite feasible, but now you need to understand that in any case, cleaning with an easy task will not seem - you will have to tinker.

And if there is sand in the composition of the water, then it clearly indicates that it is time to act!

Well cleaning

Only here you need to act very carefully and carefully, otherwise as a result you can get not cleaned, but simply a spoiled well.

We will first understand how the wells are generally arranged, and then consider the most popular methods of cleaning such systems.

What are the wells

Well layout

So, we can distinguish two main types of wells:

  1. Filter designs. They are drilled based on the nearby aquifer, which is located in sandy soil. Accordingly, once the water is drawn out of the sand mass, then the filter is simply necessary and it is often necessary to clean it. But there are, of course, other causes of clogging. This, for example, silting due to the rare pumping of water, improper pipe fitting, etc.
  2. Artesian wells. Here the water supply is carried out directly from the aquifer, the flow that passes between the layers of limestone. Artesian systems are good because they are clogged much less often, however, they also need to be looked after.

As you can see, the principle of operation may be different, but here are methods for cleaning from sludge or clay, for example, approximately the same for both types of wells.

So, we will begin the review of methods.

Advice: if there is a financial opportunity, then before applying this or that technology in practice, a special video camera should be lowered to the bottom of the pit, with the help of which it will be easy to see what needs to be cleaned and, accordingly, it will allow not to do any extra work. It is not necessary to buy such a camera - as a rule, this service can be ordered from those firms that are professionally engaged in cleaning wells. The price of such a service will not be large, but the information received is useful for organizing work, agree.

Cleaning methods

Before you begin, it is worth discussing one important point ...

In most cases, everything can be cleaned as if in a great way - with the help of chemistry, which is poured to the bottom of the well. Chemicals get onto the surface of the filter and, as a rule, in a couple of days they just simply eat away garbage, silt, salts and other layers. (See also the article How to equip a well with your own hands.)

It would seem convenient, fast and simple, but only here it is worth thinking about two points:

  1. After this cleaning, your water can not be drunk, as well as used for cooking (at least a month). Because you will need to wait until the remnants of chemistry completely washed off with water.
  2. The method itself is unpleasant, because pollution of the aquifer and the entire ecosystem as a whole occurs.

Of course, only you can decide how to clean the filter in the well, of course, but we do not recommend the method of working with chemicals.

It looks like a filter for the well

We better consider other options.

Sink cleaning

This is a very effective and relatively simple technology that is used quite often for wells up to 40 meters deep. (See also the article Which Pump is Better for a Well: Selection Criteria.)

A slug is a piece of heavy metal pipe 60 centimeters long and with a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the main pipe in the well. The bottom of the zhelonka consists of a washer with a hole in the center - debris and sand from the bottom of the well enter the pipe through it.

In the middle of such a pipe is a ball that has a diameter slightly smaller than the shell itself. By the way, the inside of the bottom washer exactly repeats the shape of the ball.

The ball can be made of metal, but, as a rule, it is rarely possible to get the right diameter, so the solution to the question is approached somewhat differently. In the market, an ordinary rubber ball for children is bought, which is cut in half. Both halves are filled with small bearings, for example, and then glued together.

Bailer

The device functions very simply.

The shell on the cable is lowered to the bottom of the well, then slightly raised and sharply released. The pipe flies down, while the ball inside the yolk for a few seconds comes off the plane of the washer (that is, it opens up a hole in it) and just at that time sand and mud are collected in the tube.

Then the ball closes the hole, and the pipe neatly rises to the surface, where garbage is poured out of it, and then the operation is repeated again and again.

Next way.

Water cleaning

This method is carried out with the help of two pumps - one that already supplies water from the well to the surface, and an additional one - the ground one, which will supply water under pressure to the bottom of the pit.

That is, it turns out that due to the enhanced circulation of water, water with a high content of sand and small debris flows into the pump, which is located at a depth. After some time of such pumping, the percentage of foreign matter in the water will become much lower or the garbage will disappear altogether.

Water cleaning circuit

Pay attention only to the fact that the pump that will supply water to the surface must pass third-party particles with a diameter of at least 5 mm. If he does not have such an opportunity, then the pump will simply clog.

It is good to apply technology when it is necessary to clear a bottom from silt, from sand or from other similar garbage.

Everything is done very simply:

  1. A water tank is installed near the well;
  2. A small tank with a mesh, which will function as a filter, is lowered into the tank. It may well be a regular bucket;
  3. A hose is pulled from a bucket to a single ground pump;
  4. From the same pump to the bottom of the well they lay another hose;
  5. Start the water supply to the well and simultaneously turn on the pump for pumping water from the bottom. Circulation effect created. Cleaning started running.

Such is the instruction - as you can see, there is nothing complicated.

Air pumping

Air cleaning circuit

In fact, here the principle of operation is quite similar to the previous method. In the trunk, through a hose, with the help of a compressor, air is fed under a pressure of 10-15 atmospheres, which lifts the layers of sand from the bottom.

Then these layers gradually come to the surface with the help of a water pump.

Here it is only important to ensure that the air pressure does not spoil the equipment itself (pump, filter) in the barrel - the pressure is decent.

Example of the simplest compressor

And another technology, which is excellent to apply in the country, where there is no additional equipment, except for the water supply pump itself.

So to say - "economy option."

The easiest way to clean

The method consists in the fact that near the pump the soil is loosened with a piece of ordinary reinforcement. The metal is tied to the cable or to the rope (make sure that they do not break, otherwise the fittings will remain in the trunk) and sink to the bottom. (See also the article Self-replacement of the pump in the well.)

Then the cable must be sharply raised and lowered, so that the fittings loosen the earth.

Here, too, the principle is simple - layers of sand and mud will leave with water through a pumping pump.

Such are the technologies.

Let's sum up.

Conclusion

We thoroughly figured out how to clean the well and examined what nuances exist in this matter. We hope that you will be able to put this knowledge into practice. And if you want to learn more, we recommend watching the video in this article.
