How to flush the well from sand and silt yourself

Water supply

In order for the water supply system of your private house or the dacha to not fail, care is required not only for the equipment, but also for the well itself.

The photo shows that silt water rises from the well during cleaning.

Types of wells

The diagram shows the horizons from which water is drawn from various wells.

There are two types of wells for water extraction. They differ in the depth of drilling.

Artesian

Artesian wells that take water from deeper layers located in the thickness of limestone rocks are usually used to provide water to settlements. Their depth is great, as a rule, and drilling is costly for individuals.

In addition to the drilling process itself, it is necessary to obtain a license for subsoil use for such structures, which is difficult for an individual, and there is a lot of trouble with the documents for permitting drilling. As a result, the cost of arranging an artesian well becomes significantly higher than the sand one.

Sandy

For the water supply of a private house or cottage wells are used that take water from the first aquifer, which is located in a layer of sand or gravel. These wells are called sandy.

Most private owners use sand wells to supply their sites. Silting of such a well may occur due to the presence of a relatively heavy fraction in the aquifer of sludge and sand. These particles do not rise, but settle at the bottom of the device, reducing the rate of water rise.

Causes silting

In the lower compartment of the installation is installed a strainer from the sand for the well.

The signal that the well is clogged is the reduction in water pressure. Further, the system begins to periodically release turbid water with portions of air, and then stops working altogether. It is not desirable to bring up to this point, it is better to take preventive measures at the first stage.

The reasons for which the well may be silted may be the following:

  1. when the device wells were incorrectly determined the place of intake of water;
  2. geological problems, reservoir movement causing changes in the bed of aquifers;
  3. the lack of protection from debris and suspended matter in the system;
  4. small volume of water taken to the surface;
  5. non-permanent, seasonal system operation;
  6. clogged downhole filters;
  7. Poor pump.

Council It is useful to periodically turn on the pump and pump over water for a long time. After all, with sufficient water flow and constant use of the well, the risk of silting decreases.

How to get rid of sand in the well, if the problem has already appeared and the water has become bad to enter the system?

There are three possibilities:

  1. pumping;
  2. purge;
  3. flushing.

A radical, but also very costly way is to call a fire engine to flush with high pressure water. In this case, you can quickly get rid of the problem, but there is a risk of damage to the filter.

Purging can be attempted by supplying pressurized air to the system using a compressor. Usually enough 15 atmospheres to get the effect.

Bleeding is the most rational of all ways. With its help you can get rid of sand, silt and other sediments that have accumulated at the bottom of the system.

Well cleaning

When deciding how to pump a well from the sand, consider the three options in which it is possible to do it yourself.

With zhelonka

Option homemade zhelonka for cleaning the system from the sand.

This method is especially effective when we decide how to pump out the sand from the well.

The shell is a half-meter length of pipe on a cable or strong nylon halyard and a metal ball that covers the lower opening.

Instructions for cleaning wells with the help zhelonki:

  1. we lower the sill on the cable to the bottom of the well;
  2. when lowering, the heavy shell, hitting the bottom, shakes sand and silt, and the ball rises up the pipe by inertia;
  3. the pipe is filled with silt and sand with water;
  4. the ball under its weight falls and closes the lower hole;
  5. repeat the lowering of the jelly to the bottom 3-4 times;
  6. lift up the bowl smoothly and pour water with sand and silt out of it;
  7. repeat the process until we clean the bottom.

Council For convenient work with the shell, it is possible to mechanize the process, having made a construction in the form of a gate on a tripod, with the help of which it will be convenient to lower the shelf and raise it.

The design of the gate to facilitate the work with the sludge.

Deep well pump

This process is very simple, but takes a long time. The main point is to periodically loosen silt and sand with the help of a pin or a trident being lowered to the bottom. A pump to pump water downhole.

As you can see, the method is very simple and available for use to anyone who does not have other devices at hand, except for an ordinary deep well pump.

Vibrating pump

Diagram of the device nozzles on the vibration pump for deep water intake.

If you usually use a vibrating pump with a top water intake for water supply, then you can build a nozzle for it from the depth. Such a pump with a lower water intake will perfectly clean the well of sand and silt.

Consider the process of constructing nozzles for deep water intake:

  1. put a piece of durable rubber hose on the pump water intake;
  2. firmly fasten the hose to the body with a hose clamp;
  3. insert a long PVC or metal tube inside the attached hose;
  4. fix the tube to the hose with any clamps;
  5. Attach a weight to the bottom of the tube so that the tube is always at the bottom, but do not cover the hole with a weight;
  6. we lower the receiver to the bottom, as soon as we feel that we have touched the bottom, then we lift it up to 5 centimeters;
  7. turn on the pump.

In this way, it is possible to clean new systems that have not been used for a long time or are often silted. The only drawback is the rapid wear of the rubber piston. But it is very easy to replace.

Summary

Any hydraulic structure needs periodic prophylaxis. The water supply system from the well is no exception. Watch it, clean it in a timely manner, and it will serve you for many years.
