How to heat the water in a summer shower: available fixtures

Water supply

In most cases, the water is used to heat the sun for a summer shower - it is simple and requires absolutely no costs, especially since the functionality of this method stretches over three summer months, and sometimes even affects pieces of spring and autumn.

But for summer residents and gardeners, this is not the way out, because they plant a garden in the spring, but clean it in the fall, therefore, I would like to stand under a stream of warm water after a hard day’s work and this is possible with an electric heater.

Shower Tank with Electric Heater

Here you can go in two ways - buy a ready-made tank with heating elements in the store (some models are sold in a complete set with a shower head and a faucet), or insert a heater into any tank, which we will tell you about below, and also provide you with a video in this article.

Tank with electric heater

What you can offer in the store

110 L stainless steel tank
  • Such a tank, as you see in the top photo, has dimensions (L / W / H) 625x832x200 mm (steel 1.0-0.8 mm) - it is set to lie down, therefore, it takes up very little space, since it is mounted on shower roof. This model is provided with a 1.5 kW tubular electric heater and a built-in thermostat with which you can adjust the temperature of the liquid in the range of 20-80? C. Are there two holes in the tank? and? inches - the first serves to drain, and the second - to fill with water.
  • Maintenance of the tank (washing and cleaning) is carried out when the cover is removed, the cover is also on the thermostat - you can always get to the electrical equipment. Complete with a tank for the dacha shower, a shower head and a ball valve are supplied. Such equipment may also have other volumes and more powerful heating elements.

    150 liter tank Plastic

  • And here you see a plastic container with dimensions (D / Sh / V) 1000x1000x266 mm with an internal volume of 150 l with an electric heater of type TEN by 2.0 kW - that is, the volume is slightly (30 l) more and the heating element by 0, 5 kW more powerful. Are there also two holes with a diameter? and? inches - one for draining and the other for filling the tank with water. It was not without reason that we paid attention to these parameters, comparing them with a stainless steel tank - the fact is that the price of a plastic tank will be about four times less, and its operating parameters and qualities will not be affected!

Note. These plastic tanks in the winter of 2015 passed a very serious test of endurance, however, then electric heaters were not installed in them. They were used as automotive fuel tanks on the Murmansk-Vladivostok motor rally!

Homemade tank with electric heater

The device of the tubular electric heater: 1) nichrome spiral; 2) metal tube; 3) periclase or quartz sand; 4) terminal stud; 5) sealing sleeve for sealing; 6, 7) conclusion

There are some ways to force the water in the reservoir of the dacha shower, but we will focus on the most common of them - heating with the help of a tubular electric heater or heating element. First of all, it should be said that the instruction does not oblige you to adhere to any exact parameters when selecting a heating element for a shower - let us say only that devices from 1.5 to 2.5 kW are used for this, besides, there can be either one , or several spirals.

Block TENY

Multiple-spiral or block heaters are different in that the same device can operate in two or three modes, for example, when turning on a single filament, the unit will produce 1 kW of power, with two - 1.5 kW, and with three - 2.0 kw. In the presence of a thermostat or a simple mechanical switch, it is very convenient, as it allows you to set the desired temperature, depending on the time of year or the wishes of washing.

Inset into the tank thermostat is made separately from the heater, although in the immediate vicinity around it.

Recommendation. Considering the factor that a dry electric heater (not immersed in water) fuses very quickly, you should install it below the critical water level. To do this, you simply need to raise the fitting of the shower head 1-2 cm above the heating element.

Electric Heater Fitting

To insert heating equipment into the tank, you need to drill holes along the diameter of the fitting of this device - in the upper figure this parameter is marked with the letter M. From the outside you simply fix the heating element by tightening the clamping nut and washer on the fitting, but inside and outside you will need put metal washers and, most likely, rubber or paronitic sealing gaskets.

Untreated holes

If you use a plastic tank, then you will not have to make such openings with your own hands - for this you will need an electric drill with a thick drill or a crown cutter of the desired cross section - in a few seconds you will complete the passage.

It is much more difficult to do this on metal containers, for example, on an aluminum can or a steel barrel, and even worse on homemade (factory) stainless steel tanks, unless you find a drill of a suitable diameter. But in the case of the TEN unit, you will need a larger hole, but there is a way out in this situation.

To do this, take your tank for a summer shower, mark the centers of the terminal rods and draw there the circumference of the desired diameter, in which you will need to go through a thin drill of 2-3 mm with a minimum step. To pull out the middle, cut the partitions with a semicircular file, and then cut the edges with a semicircular file — you can remove sharp edges and burrs with it.

It doesn’t matter if the circle is not very smooth - it’s also on the top photo - the washers from the inside and outside, installed there with the seals, will block all gaps, you just need to tighten the nuts to the end, but at the same time do not over-tighten their.

Connection of two TENOV in a can

You can also install two electric heaters at once instead of one unit of the heating element, as shown in the top photo - the effect will be the same. Instead of a thermostat, you can cut a conventional thermostat into the tank, which will open the circuit at a certain temperature and close it when the water cools. This is very convenient, for example, you can turn on the unit after lunch to wash in the evening after work.

Conclusion

In any case, the heating of water in the summer shower is most conveniently done with electricity — all other sources of energy (gas, liquid and solid fuels) are not suitable here. You can pull the electrical cable from home and then remove it after use by disconnecting it from the terminal rods.
