How to make a well of concrete rings yourself
Even if you do not have special skills in concreting, you can still make a well using precast concrete rings. If you buy ready-made for you will be expensive, and not always their quality can be on top, it is easier to make these elements yourself. On your own site, you can make a lightweight version of the design, with the dimensions of the concrete rings for the well being: O 900 mm, height - 900 mm, wall thickness - 70 mm.

Prepare rings for the well

- Fix the formwork on the shield using 3-4 wooden struts. To increase the strength of concrete rings, use ring reinforcement O 5-8 mm, adding to it vertical stands of it. Put 2 rings on the height of the formwork.
- Prepare a solution with your hands, for which take 1 part of cement, 3 parts of sand and 4 parts of washed rubble, the smallest fraction possible. In this case, remember that for the 2 lower rings the ratio in the concrete mix should be 1.5: 2: 4.
- Use a container or a concrete mixer to prepare the solution.. Make sure that the sand and cement are thoroughly mixed together. To do this, add water a little bit, since you need a thick solution that will improve the quality of the ring.
- Add gravel to the mix and mix thoroughly.. Use a shovel to fill the formwork with mortar and tamp it well with a wooden block.
- After filling it in?, Lower the reinforcing ring into the mixture; on its outer part, install reinforcement bars, about 6-8 pieces, 800-850 mm high. Put the following reinforcement ring after the filling on? At the last stage, fill the formwork completely. The price of this design can be 2 or more times less than the market.
To maintain uniformity of the ring thickness, it is possible to install 5 wooden liners with a length of 70 mm in the formwork, which should be removed after dismantling.
Make sure that when you set the strength of the concrete, the design is not subjected to shocking movements. Disassemble the formwork carefully after 8-10 days, lift the ring to the edge and roll it to another place, dropping it onto the ground by 2 rails. Finally, the construction will harden after 20 days.

Make the remaining concrete rings in the same way. Their number will depend on the depth of the well, on average 6-12 pieces are enough.
Tip: leave in the upper part of the 2nd ring, counting from the surface, the hole for the pump pipe, through it water from the source will flow into the housing. If you do not intend to device water supply, this is not necessary.
Installing rings
- Make wells from concrete rings only after all the elements are ready.
- Dig a pit with a diameter of 1300-1500 mm, put a ring in it and start digging up the soil inside it. It should fall to the ground level under its weight.

Tip: when the rings do not fall under their weight, it means that you have moved away from the vertical axis. To continue work, place a wooden shield on the upper ring and throw more soil and stones on it to create pressure. - Prepare a simple lifting mechanism, after installing the second ring. It will consist of two tripods, which need to be put on both sides of the ring, put on them a thick-walled tube O50 mm. Attach the bracket with a roller or pulley to it, you can use a winch.
- Throw a chain or a metal cable over a pulley to lift a bucket of soil from the mine with their help.
- Secure the rings with a cement-sand mixture, reliably sealing the joints inside and out. Above ground level, raise the upper ring to at least 400 mm.
- When water begins to appear in the well, continue to deepen. If the flow increases, apply a submersible pump for pumping, at the same time increasing the depth by half a meter.
Tip: when the water level rises too quickly and the aquifers appear, stop work.
Nuances of work
When the well is filled with water, there is a wash of fine sand-quicksand, which should be cleaned with a pump. Since it cannot be completely removed, a month later, the procedure is usually repeated.
There is no need to clean the sand when the fully pumped out well is filled with water in about 16-20 hours. This suggests that the aquifers function correctly and no blockages interfere with them.
At the bottom of the finished well, you need to make a bottom filter. For this, the first layer of well-washed large stones is placed, and on top of it pour the second well-washed rubble or gravel of medium fractions.
Tip: make a clay lock around the perimeter of the upper ring with a layer of 300-400 mm, which will help protect the well shaft from the water pipe.

You should not panic, but rather give an objective assessment of what happened:
- if it is intended to use a bucket for raising water to the surface, then, the more vertical the trunk, the more convenient;
- when it is decided to use the pump, then, in principle, it will not matter what angle.
Therefore, you can dig a well, align the upper ring, so that no one would guess, and it was beautiful. Seal the wedge-shaped wide joint between the last rings well with cement mortar and you can operate the well.

If you decide to level the column, you will need to select a certain part of the soil on the outside of the rings. The process will be long and laborious, it is possible that you have to dig almost to the bottom of the mine.

The width of the pit should allow you to work without leaning against the walls of the rings. It should be very careful, as the column at any second can go to the side and pin down.
