Principles of installation

Install caisson

Arrangement of a well in the country must begin with the installation of the caisson. It is a sealed container of a round or square shape, equipped with an inspection hatch, which is buried in the ground above the well to a depth below the level of soil freezing.

The main purpose of the caisson is to protect the well from the ingress of groundwater into it, as well as from freezing in the winter.

It can be made of metal, plastic or concrete.

  1. First of all, around the wellbore to dig a pit, the dimensions of which should be slightly larger than the dimensions of the caisson.
  2. In the case of using a plastic or metal caisson, a concrete pad must be poured at the bottom, which will serve as an anchor.

  2. In the center of the bottom of the cut hole equal to the diameter of the casing.
  3. After that, install the caisson on the bottom, passing the casing through the hole in the bottom of its body.
  4. Along the perimeter of the plastic or metal container, you must install a bandage of durable elastic material and firmly secure it to the concrete pad. This is done so that when the GWL is raised, the caisson does not squeeze out of the ground under the influence of Archimedes force.
  5. After installing the caisson, it is necessary to provide a hermetic connection between its bottom and the casing of the well.

After completing this work, you can backfill the pit using excavated soil. If necessary, the upper part of the caisson can be further warmed with sheet heat-insulating materials.

   Tip! If during the installation of the well it is not intended to operate in the winter period, it is possible to do without installing the caisson, ensuring protection of its head against ingress of groundwater and foreign objects.

Installation of a submersible pump

Water supply to consumers is carried out using a submersible pump. Its price depends largely on parameters such as performance, power and head height, so when choosing a pump, you must be guided by the depth of the water level in the well and the flow rate of the well.

Wells for limestone, as a rule, have a better flow rate than sand ones, therefore, when setting up an artesian well, a more powerful pump must be used.

When installing a submersible pump, it is recommended to observe the following conditions:

  • Before final installation of the pump in the well, it is necessary to pump water for some time to remove sand and other mechanical impurities.
  • For maximum performance, the pump must be completely submerged under water and located 1 meter above the bottom of the well.
  • The pump check valve and protective device must be installed after the preliminary pumping of water.
  • To lift the water you need to use a plastic pipe made of low pressure polyethylene.
  • The pump should be suspended on a stainless steel cable or steel cable with waterproof braid, the upper end of which is securely attached to the tip of the well.

Accumulator selection

In order to ensure an uninterrupted and uniform supply of water to the system, the estimate for independent development of wells should include another device. It is called a hydraulic accumulator and serves to maintain a constant pressure in the system and reduce the load on the submersible pump.

Its principle of operation is that it contains in its tank a certain amount of water that is under the working pressure of the system. When a consumer is turned on, water from the hydroaccumulator first flows into the system, and when it is consumed and pressure decreases, the system switches on the submersible pump, which refills the reserve volume of the hydroaccumulator and supplies water to consumers.

The question of how much a hydroaccumulator costs is mainly dependent on the volume of its working reservoir, which can be in the range of 10 to 1000 liters, depending on the model. The optimal volume must be chosen based on the number of consumers and the value of the instantaneous water consumption in the house.

   Tip! The accumulator is usually installed in the basement of the house, but in order to save space, if the volume of the caisson allows it, it can be installed inside, directly near the wellhead.
