Practical advice on how to build a plumbing in the country

Water supply

As a rule, the water supply system at a dacha from a well without a hydraulic accumulator is relevant if water is needed for watering the adjacent area and nothing more. But in the event that a cottage or a country house is used for everyday use, the requirements for the autonomous water supply system are somewhat different.

So, what is the device plumbing at the cottage from the well? What materials are used for the construction of such systems? Is it possible to cope with the implementation of such a project?

Detailed scheme of water supply of a country house

There is no possibility to connect to a centralized water supply, but is there a well in the yard? So everything is fine! After all, you have a unique opportunity to acquire an autonomous water supply system, the water from which will be clean, tasty and practically free.

If there is no well, it will have to be dug independently and thus solve the problem with water supply once and for all. The presence of a well in the country for some reasons is preferable to the maintenance of the well.

This is due to several advantages, including:

  • The cost of construction and maintenance is lower than the cost of drilling and operating a well.
  • Independence from the supply of electricity, as the water intake can be produced not only by a pump, but also manually.
  • Ease of maintenance and regular cleaning of a water well.
  • The minimum content in the water of iron impurities characteristic of wells and, as a consequence, the ability to save on the acquisition of water treatment systems.
  • Ease of use of both submersible and surface pumps, which is not the case with most wells.
  • Simplicity of conservation of water intake and pumping equipment in the event that a country house is used for seasonal living.
  • There is no need to obtain a special permit, which is necessary in a number of regions in order to equip a well.

Works on the construction of an autonomous water supply system

The general plan of how to make a summer water supply

Tip: to begin work on the construction of water supply in the country in the winter is inappropriate. Wait for the warm season and then start. Work will be much easier.

At the first stage of work, a scheme of the water supply system from the well at the cottage is made. Properly designed scheme will not only ensure the efficiency of the system, but also greatly simplify the calculation of the number of materials needed.

The fact is that the water supply system, in addition to pipes and fittings, consists of many other components whose price is high. And to avoid overspending of materials is possible only due to the availability of the scheme and budget.

The scheme of water supply should initially consider the following elements:

  • pipes;
  • pumping equipment of the appropriate type;
  • automatic shutdown relay;
  • hydroaccumulator;
  • filtration system;
  • collectors;
  • water consumption points.

The plumbing from the well is not only the outer part, but also the part that is located inside the house. Therefore, all structural elements in the scheme should be appropriately marked. It is also necessary to mark the paths along which the pipes will be laid.

Installation of pumping equipment

Installation of autonomous water supply systems begins with the installation of pumping equipment. Most often, a submersible pump is used, which is mounted and operated directly in the water intake trunk.

The main advantage of this solution is the absence of noise on the surface, since the working part of the device is located below the water level. In addition, outside the pump there are no fundamentally important elements that could adversely affect the aesthetics of the summer cottage or backyard plot.

The pump is mounted on a special stainless cable. In addition to the cable, a power cable designed for long-term stay in water and a hose or pipe for transporting water is supplied to the pump. Submersible pump should be located at a distance of a meter from the bottom, this is done in order to avoid frequent clogging of equipment.

One way to install a pump

Tip: You can calculate the depth of the water part of the well by dropping a long, dry rope into the mine, having previously tied a load to its end. We lower the rope exactly until we feel that the load has reached the bottom. Next, gradually pull out the rope and feel it until we feel the wet area.

It is important to remember to install a drain valve. This element is mounted at a height of 3-4 meters from the surface of the earth. In order for water to flow from the system through this valve, the buried part of the pipeline must be laid with a slight bias towards the source.

Installation of external piping

Instructions for laying pipes outside the house

In order to collect water from a well at a country house with your own hands and subsequently operate it, you need to properly lay the pipes.

This is done as follows:

  • At the initial stage we dig a trench from the well to the house. The depth to which it is necessary to dig is determined by various factors and above all the peculiarities of the operation of the dacha water supply system.

If the water supply system is supposed to be used exclusively in the warm season, then we dig a trench no deeper than 1 meter. If the water supply is needed throughout the year, we dig below the depth of soil freezing (about 1.5-2 meters).

  • Next we start the pipeline to the house. The easiest way to do this is when building the house has just begun and pipes can be started under the foundation. If this is not possible, you can use the surface method of installation. In this and in another case, in order to avoid freezing of water, it is necessary to use insulators and heating wires.
  • When building a water supply system, it is necessary to maintain a slope in the direction of the supply pipe. This is necessary so that in case of conservation of the system it was possible to drain all the water without residue and thus eliminate the possibility of its freezing.
  • Before operating the system, you need to make sure that the pressure in the pipes is within 3-4 atm. Pressure control is carried out through a special relay, which initially needs to be installed in the water supply system.

A dry-running relay is used as a fuse. This relay is triggered by a drop in the water level in the barrel of a water intake shaft. In this case, the pump is completely stopped in order to prevent the likelihood of an emergency.

  • After the hydroaccumulator is installed, we mount a tee with a locking mechanism in order to divide the total water flow into technical water and drinking water. The process water will be supplied with minimum cleaning, while the drinking water will have to undergo a water treatment system including multi-stage filtration.

Installation of the internal pipeline

The installation of the internal pipeline

The laying of pipes in the house can be carried out in a sequential or collector way.

  • Serial (three way) method connecting the pipeline is the best solution for owners of small suburban buildings in which no more than 1-2 people live permanently.

Throughout the house water passes through the main pipeline. The tee with tap is mounted directly opposite the consumption points. The only significant disadvantage of this method is that with the simultaneous connection of several consumers, the pressure in the system will drop.

Example of pipe distribution from the collector
  • Collector method connections imply a separate pipe from the collector to each point of consumption. As a result, the same pressure will come to each point regardless of the number of consumers. Of course, this method is somewhat more expensive due to the fact that more pipes are used. But such expenses are fully justified by the ease of operation of the water supply system.

Conclusion

It is not as difficult to build a summer water pipeline from a well as to equip the water supply from a well. Moreover, the operation of such a water supply system will be more economical, simpler and more efficient. It will be possible to appreciate the advantages of water intake from the well both in the normal mode of use of the pump, and when the electricity supply is turned off.
