Reinforced concrete rings for a well: installation procedure
Not all gardeners can boast the presence of centralized water supply at their estates. Therefore, one of the most important tasks for them is the creation of a well. It is made using reinforced concrete rings.
On the order of their installation, we now talk.

Characteristics of reinforced concrete rings
General information
These structures are nothing more than typical reinforced concrete products. At the factories they are made in accordance with GOST 8020-90, which establishes the technical characteristics of precast concrete rings for wells.
These blanks differ from each other, first of all, in diameter. It can vary from 750 to 2000 mm in increments of 250 mm. As for the height of the rings, it is 800-900 mm.

All such details can also be divided into two subgroups:
- elements that have a lock in the end part - it allows you to make the connection of the rings to each other more durable and airtight; (See also the article Rings for a well with a lock: design features.)
- elements without a lock - metal brackets are used for their fastening.
Advantages and disadvantages of reinforced concrete rings
Their advantages are as follows:
- Reliability and strength of products - precast concrete rings for wells - made according to GOST, are very durable. This is due to the properties used to create reinforced concrete;
- Short installation time - assembling a structure from prefabricated elements does not take much time.
The disadvantage of these rings is only one - this is a lot of weight. But this disadvantage is not critical.
Tip! To facilitate the assembly process is to resort to using a car crane.
Calculation of reinforced concrete wells
To determine the number of blocks you need to purchase, you first need to calculate the volume of reinforced concrete rings for wells.
To do this, use the following formula: V = L * 3.14 * R ?, where:
- V is the total volume of the well;
- L is the height of the structure;
- radius.
Having calculated the total volume of the future structure, it is necessary to divide it by the volume of the reinforced concrete well ring. It can range from 0.16 to 0.54 m. The exact number should be obtained from the seller.
Selection of reinforced concrete rings
Deciding to purchase these products, you should very carefully approach the issue of their choice.
To implement it correctly, pay attention to the following recommendations:
- choose rings whose surface has no external damage, such as sinks or cracks and is covered with a layer of cement mortar. Otherwise, the products will quickly collapse;
- mounting loops protruding from the surface of the concrete must be rust free. Her presence speaks of the corrosion process. Because of this, when lifting the product, the hinges can simply come off;
- high-quality billet must have a passport, which will indicate both the composite materials and the fact that the kiln is used for a park of concrete.
Installation of reinforced concrete rings

Installation of a well of reinforced concrete rings is carried out in the following order:
- Initially, the site is leveled for future construction. At the same time, it should be at least 15 cm larger than the external diameter of the concrete product;

- A hole is dug for the first ring. Its depth should be 10 cm below the height of the ring;
- The first concrete element is installed. In the absence of a crane for installation, you will have to resort to the services of at least two assistants. The horizontal placement of the product is checked using the construction level;
- On the first workpiece is placed the second and fixed with three brackets;
- The pit is dug further, while the work is performed from the center to the edges. First you need to go deeper by 80 centimeters, and then carefully dig around the edges of the recess so that the rings go down. After that, another concrete element is lowered into the pit and is fastened to the previous one;

- All other reinforced concrete well rings are installed in the manner described above. The horizontal installation of each element must be checked using the building level;

Tip! To the joints of concrete products were sealed, you need to gloss over the joints and staples with cement-sand mortar, made in a ratio of 1: 1. For waterproofing purposes, the outer surface of the blocks is covered with liquid glass.
- When water begins to flow actively into the well, it is necessary to start pumping it;
- Pumping out all the liquid dirt, you should proceed to the creation of a bottom filter that will purify the incoming water. For this, the bottom is leveled and cleaned, after which 25 cm of coarse sand is poured in. On top of it is necessary to fill 20 cm of fine gravel and 20 cm of large crushed stone;
- It is necessary to pump out water several times - this will reduce the risk of silting;
- The space between the blocks and the ground is filled with a mixture of sand and gravel;
- To protect the well from rain and melt water, a clay castle is created. It is a trench, 1 meter deep, dug with his own hands around the well. Clay is poured and pressed into it;

- Additional protection from precipitation will serve as a concrete blind area, which is poured over the clay castle.
Having completed these works, you need to cover the well with a lid. It will prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into it.
But this is only a temporary measure. In the future, it is necessary to install a canopy or other similar structure over the well. There are many options that differ from each other not only the appearance, but also the price of their construction.
Conclusion
Reinforced concrete rings are reliable and durable material to create a well. In order to get a solid structure, you must first select high-quality products. They must be equipped with an end lock and must not have any visible defects.
Equally important is the correct installation design. Instructions for its implementation has been set forth above. In addition to her, you can also read the video in this article, which will give you additional information on the topic discussed.
