Cleaning methods

Iron - the most common admixture of water from wells. As soon as water with iron comes out, the impurity reacts with oxygen, becomes trivalent, and will not be visible in water for some time..

Therein lies the danger - the water will seem perfectly clean. And only after a while it will acquire a brown color and an unpleasant metallic smell.

The maximum allowable amount of iron in a cubic decimeter of water (in two full glasses) is no more than 1 mg. If excess iron enters the body, they can cause very significant harm, as they neutralize a large number of other elements that are very important for the body.

All cleaning methods can be divided into 4 types:

filtration,
aeration - saturation of water with oxygen,
coagulation - the use of substances that capture iron molecules and precipitate with them, the most famous coagulant is aluminum sulfate - a white salt with a pink or blue tint,

flotation - here is also the saturation of water with substances that absorb iron molecules, but everything goes not into sediment, down, but rises up, which greatly facilitates further purification.

Homemade scheme

The easiest way to conduct iron removal from a well is to create such a system:

A - pipeline for supplying water from the well to the tank;
B - stainless steel tank; the tank has a fairly large surface area, which ensures maximum contact of water with oxygen, and therefore the reaction of oxygen with iron, which ultimately in the form of rust goes into sediment; as practice shows, up to 5 cm of sediment accumulates on the bottom throughout the year (therefore, the tank must be periodically cleaned);

C - compressor, normal - aquarium, for aeration, this further reduces the content of harmful impurities;

Such a system is already something, although still it is better not to use such water right away, you cannot do without a filter for a well.

Mixtures

You can, of course, buy a filter and then constantly engage in its maintenance. Such a purchase will cost you 6-12 thousand rubles.

But you can use the mixtures of ion exchange resins, which are also well not only remove iron, but also contribute to a noticeable softening of water.

One of the most famous means of this kind is the mixture of Ecotar-A, which is supplied in bags and is designed for its content in water:

iron - more than 8 mg / l and
manganese - 2 mg / l;

If, moreover, your well is not deep, and its total hardness is within 10 mg / l, then the mixture can be a very good choice, the price of which reaches 6 thousand rubles.
